

Bruce H. Moorey, of Aurora, Colorado passed away from Parkinson’s Disease and other complications on October 16, 2017. Bruce was born on March 21, 1934 in Passaic, New Jersey to the parents of Horace Holmes Moorey and Elsie Herm. He was the oldest of two siblings. His was a musical family where he enjoyed singing while his mother played the piano. He loved to fish and swim and became a Lifeguard in High School.
He attended Ashbury University in East Stausbury, Pennsylvania where he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was filled with the Holy Spirit. His love of singing continued into his college years, where he sang a solo in the Handel’s Messiah. After two years at Ashbury, Bruce left to serve his country with the United States Navy.
After the Navy Bruce experienced marriage and family life. After a visit to Aspen, Colorado, he met and talked with signer/songwriter John Denver.
In addition, he was inspired by the beauty of the majestic Rocky Mountains. In the following years he would climb several of the “Fourteeners”, mountain ranges. He also enjoyed Cross-Country Skiing on the mountain, and other winter sports.
After sixty-something he came to Denver, Colorado, there he met the love of his life Jan, at the book table after church. After a year of courtship and travel, they were married in a double-wedding ceremony, honeymooning in Hawaii. For the next few years they ministered together on the streets of Denver praying and helping the down-trodden and homeless. This included ministering with Arthur Blessitt. Subsequently, Bruce and Jan would carry the cross through many streets of Colorado ministering to others.
In the latter fifteen years of his life, Bruce was a light to this world. He evangelized and brought over 250 people into the Kingdom of God. His life truly demonstrates the transforming power of Christ Jesus. Indeed, he will have a lot of company in heaven, because of the gift of his life on earth.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents Horace and Elsie Moorey and his infant daughter Victoria.
Bruce is survived by his wife Janice Moorey of Aurora, CO, his sister Barbara Campbell of Tampa, Florida, his sons Stephen (Brenda) Moorey, Daniel (Tana) Moorey, Peter (Janene Veazey) Moorey, and Josiah (Erica) Moorey, his daughter Esther (Derek) Murrain, eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two nephews and a host of other relatives.
