

Constance was raised in a Catholic school for five years in Leavenworth, Kansas. After that, she came back to her hometown and attended the local school there. In 1950, Constance married Foster Leroy Carter and in 1960 moved from Tonganoxie, Kansas to Colorado with the family. Constance had a total of four children, which she stayed home to raise. By that time, all the children were in school, and she took a job in childcare at George Washington Carver Day Care. She stayed there for ten years and then went to BabyLand for five years and then went to work for Human Services for another five years. She retired in 1989. Constance was a member of Cure d’Ars Catholic Church for many years.
Constance departed from this life on September 10, 2013 at her home in Denver with her children at her side. She was preceded in death by her husband Foster Leroy Carter and leaves four children; Emma J. Glover of Denver, Colorado; Ernestine Price of Lawrence, Kansas; Michael C. Carter of Denver, Colorado; and Patricia A. Carter of Denver, Colorado. Constance also leaves behind six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The grandchildren are; Brian Jarrett, Jennifer Watkins, Heather Nicolle Hay, Alicia Michelle Carter, Erica Marie Carter, and Jessica Elizabeth Carter. The great grandchildren are; Jarrett Allen Watkins, Austin Payne Watkins, Charles William Jarrett, and Elizabeth Grace Jarrett. Constance also leaves two sisters, Jeanetta Brown and Lois Miller, both of Boston, Massachusetts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 17th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.; her funeral will be Wednesday, September 18th at 10:00 a.m.; both at Olinger Hampden Mortuary, 8600 E. Hampden Avenue in Denver. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Foster Leroy Carter at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver. She will be missed.
