He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 11, 1930. Donald graduated from “GED” and received an honorary Doctorate degree from the School of Hard Knocks, aka the US military.
He married the love of his life and the only woman who could deal with his orneriness, Patsy Ann Wehrman on July 20, 1957 in Bainbridge, Indiana.
Donald first served our country in the U.S. Navy but after realizing he did not know how to swim he re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and switched from the water to the skies. Donald worked in munitions, serving in Germany, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, and finally as an instructor at Lowry Air Force base in Aurora, Colorado.
In between military duty Donald worked in construction with his father, but realized that a hod carrier was not his bag of tricks. After 21 years with the Air Force, MSgt Taylor retired with numerous awards and commendations and embarked on a new career, but he was not sure what the career should be so, he enjoyed making coke with Coca-Cola and getting a semi stuck under an overpass Acme Trucking…don’t ask. Finally he found a second home with the Aurora Public School system in Grounds Maintenance. He made sure that football fields looked amazing on game days, among many other things. After 11 years with APS, he finally, truly retired and he and Patsy made the move to Wiggins.
Upon their move to Wiggins, Donald spent time working with John Kopetzky at the Wiggins School and also hauling sugar beets, yes that meant he was driving a truck again.
Donald was a member of Summit Baptist Church in Wiggins. His passions included teasing, fishing, passing out hard candy/bubble gum and earning his nickname of “Ornery”.
He is survived by his smoking hot wife, Patsy of Wiggins. Two daughters, Diana Davis of Aurora and Barbara Temple of Northglenn. Five grandchildren, Amber Davis-Sato of Williamsburg, VA, Britney Taylor of Englewood, Matthew Davis of Aurora, Tifney Mazotti of Thornton and Cortney Temple of Northglenn and four Great- Grandchildren: Camryn, Devney, Meadow and Malachi.
Donald was preceded in death but both his parents and all 5 siblings.
