

Dorothy Ann Pernell Pearson was born June 1, 1944 to the late Bessie Pernell in Memphis, TN. Dorothy was raised in Leland, MS. Upon her marriage to the late Robert Lee Pearson, the two moved to Denver, CO. Through this union two daughters, Kathy and Lisa were born. Dorothy was employed at IBM in Boulder, CO and took an early retirement in 1992. She returned to IBM as a contractor. Upon her second retirement, Dorothy began her career as a tax consultant with H&R Block. She continued to work for H&R Block until her untimely passing.
Dorothy was a quiet, and ambitious woman. She pursued her education, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Regis College, and pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Dorothy was a loyal and most dedicated member of Colorado Black Women for Political Action (CBWPA) and served as the treasurer for many years. She was a member of the “Golden Girls” group here in Denver since its inception, almost twenty years ago. Dorothy was a devout Christian and a devoted member of Scott United Methodist Church. Her service as an usher, treasurer and her membership on the women’s auxiliary were opportunities she held close to her heart.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories, her best friend Wilburn Brewer. Two daughters, Kathy Jackson her husband Javon, Lisa Williams her husband Ernest and four grandchildren Dayon, Naaman, Taylor and Asa. Siblings James Riley his wife Carol, Fannie Mae Joshaway her husband Willie, Hattie Pearl Webb, Rosetta Mack, Mae Jackson her husband Joe, Sammy Jackson his wife Doris, Matilda Harris her husband Eddie, Jerry Jackson his wife Pernada, Robert Jackson, George Jackson and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and very dear friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Louis Pernell.
