On Friday, March 30th one of God’s children was called to celebrate eternally in Heaven. At 96 years young, Eleanor Evelyn Howard of Littleton, Colorado peacefully left this earth. People knew her as Eleanor or “Donnie”, but to those who were fortunate enough to have gotten to know her she was so much more than just a name.
Eleanor was born on July 12th 1915 in Rathdrum, Idaho to her parents Joshua and Ida Adams.
She was married to Robert J Howard on June 1st 1935, they travelled the world together and led a life of adventure with their three children Robert Jr., Brian and Gail. They lived a full 60 years together before Robert Sr passed away.
Eleanor lit up a room with her smile and melted hearts with her touch. Her love and happiness was contagious, even for people she had just met. She was deeply passionate about Denver sports, especially the Denver Broncos. Every Sunday during football season she could be seen proudly sporting the team colors down to every last detail, even her earrings. Her passion for Denver sports caught fire into many of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This part of her legacy will live on in them forever.
In addition to Denver sports, Eleanor was passionate about love and caring for those around her. She lived a life devoted to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and wasn’t afraid to show it in her poise, her demeanor and her ever meaningful words of encouragement. Her family always said that she had a full time job, loving those around her.
Eleanor Howard is survived by her three children, ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren (we are a big family, but at least we are beautiful). She is also survived by her special friend Ted Burg who was a gift from God in her final years.
She was a mother, she was a friend, she was a mentor, she was a bright beaming light through which God’s love will be forever shown. Eleanor may no longer be with us, but with all the lives she touched her legacy of love will live on forever.
A celebration of her life and legacy is scheduled to be held at Hampden Memorial Estate on Thursday, April 5th 2012 and is expected to commence at 10:00 AM.
