

Gary Lee Van Ert, cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on January 15, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on July 29, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Gary was the eldest of 13 children to Bert and Joyce Van Ert. He graduated from Messmer High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Gary served his country with distinction, joining the Air Force and dedicating 20 years and 28 days before retiring. His military career was a significant part of his life, and it was during this time that he met his beloved wife, Flora, while stationed at Lowry Air Force Base. They married on August 31st in Denver, Colorado and shared 62 wonderful years together, raising several children across the globe.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Joyce Van Ert; his brother, Pete; and a daughter, Shirley Van Ert. He is survived by his wife, Flora; sons, Neal (Lori) and Chuck (Nancy); grandchildren, Christopher, Steven, and Sandy Jo; great-granddaughter, Zoie Ann; and siblings, Sheila (Jim) Klopp, Sandy, Sheryl, Mike (Pam), Pat, Perry, Shelly (Carl), Tyler (Rae Ann), Scott (Cindy), Susan (Leo), and Stephanie.
In his personal life, Gary was passionate about golf, playing whenever he had the chance. He also had a fondness for bowling, which brought him much joy.
A committal service will be held at Olinger Eastlawn Cemetery, located at 19600 E Smith Rd, Aurora, CO 80011, on January 30, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Gary will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his country.
