 Obituario de George William DeBolt
George “Bugs” William DeBolt Born on March 16, 1931 Entered Eternal Life on March 9, 2023 George “Bugs” William DeBolt was born on March 16, 1931, in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the son of Frieda and Meredith DeBolt, and brother to Ed DeBolt. Growing up, George had a lively childhood running in the streets with his buddies, chasing the streetcars, and playing quarterback for his high school football team. Many would say that George was a goofy one, getting his humor and talent from the circuses he traveled to with his father. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Navy and was also aboard the USS Boxer during the Korean War. After serving his country, George returned to Omaha to marry the girl next door, Germaine Maureen Lonergan on February 14, 1953. Over the span of 16 years, George and Germaine created a family together, bringing 8 beautiful children into the world – 4 boys and 4 girls. George’s career brought the family to Colorado in 1965, where he worked as a storekeeper for United Airlines. Within his 32 years at United, George greatly enjoyed traveling with his wife to many countries including Germany, Australia, South America, Canada, and Mexico. But the one destination that held a special place in his heart was Hawaii. George loved exploring the islands with his kids and acting as though he was a tour guide. Not only did George and Germaine travel by planes and trains, but they also traveled by car, visiting family and discovering new places across the country. Because Germaine never had a license, George took on the role of the “taxi driver” as Germaine took on the role of “Google Maps”. A local favorite of theirs was riding up to “The Hills” (also known as Black Hawk), where George would always lose and Germaine would always win! Apart from travel and marriage, their life together was filled with making memories with their 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. In 2015, Germaine lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of 81. Throughout 62 years of marriage, the morals, values, and love that they created for their family stood as a foundation for generations to come. George moved to Clermont Park Senior Living in 2018, where he began a new chapter in his life at the age of 87. He loved his new home, met friends with similar interests, and brought positive energy to the community. George truly looked forward to getting to know the employees at Clermont, where they enjoyed his witty sense of humor and compassion for others. In January 2023, George was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away peacefully on March 9, 2023. George lived a full life and is now reunited with his wife, Germaine. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Germaine, brother Ed, son Greg, and daughter Elizabeth (stillbirth).
