Jerry (Jamo) was born in Hollywood California. A true West Coast Native. After moving to Colorado he was known by all those he befriended here in Denver as L.A. He grew up in South Gate California graduating from South Gate High. My Parents were so proud of him. He mostly worked in shipping and receiving for 2 large Companies in Cali. Upon moving to Colorado he worked at Michael's for 7 years. He loved it! especially the women, answering all their questions and such. Gerald loved Elvis Presley. His favorite sports teams were obviously the Raiders and Lakers. He was a great Chess, Domino and Pool Player. His favorite past time was doing these things with his best friend and Brother Roland. He was also an avid reader and a great history and sports buff. In the evening he faithfully listened to his sci-fi radio show. His other past time was playing his football board game. He could do it for hours on end. It seemed so complicated to me, but he mastered it. He also liked to watch George Lopez with Mom. He faithfully took care of both of his Parent’s getting Dad what ever he needed paying the bills, preparing meals for them. He was a devoted Son. Gerald never new any other home but with his Parent’s Gilbert and Aggie! He was forever in their hearts and his siblings hearts as someone whom needed protecting from this cruel world! We constantly worried about him. He was naïve and trusting of all. He never spent more than a day away from this safe sanctuary of his beloved Parent’s home. With Dad gone he made the unfortunate choice last week to venture away from this safe haven which resulted in his passing. This loss is overwhelming and devastating to us as we just lost our Father in November. But most importantly Gerald was a kind, loving, sweet and conscientious person. He didn’t have much to offer just his great spirit. We were all so protective of him, as he was like a little boy that never grew up. When our Father passed he said he wished that we could all return to being children once again. So we could relive all the Happy Times we had with Dad as he missed him so! Maybe to start life over or to make different choices who knows? But now it is too late for him. Now, we are hopeless without him, now feeling complete despair! Life is not fair! Once again our hearts are forever broken! Our family chain is severely broken. What is our Mother to do? She needed you so and still does. She would look in your room out the window asking where is Jerry. When is he coming home, now she is wondering aimlessly without you! Why did you leave brother? You should be home with us, sitting in your chair with all the things you loved. Making us laugh. He was unique just like Dad! He made you feel special. He made you feel young at heart. He made you see life in Rose Spectacle Glasses. Not sure if many of you knew this but Gerald and Vince spoke like Porky Pig the cartoon character when they were very young they had to go to speech class for 2 years to overcome this habit. Too many Looney Tunes I guess? But it was so endearing to hear Mom share those stories with us. We would laugh uncontrollably. Dear Brother I hope now, you can once again speak like Porky Pig, Trust everyone, and relieve all our childhood memories with Daddy. We Love you and Miss you desperately. I hope one day my question is answered as to why this happened? Also Brother Vince wanted me to play your favorite Elvis Song for you on Friday “If I Can Dream” I never new that was your favorite but hearing the lyrics explained it clearly to a T.
Love you Sis, Valerie. We thank you for all that you did for our Parents and being just you.
