Henock Tewodros Yohannes, our beloved son, brother, and friend was born on June 24, 2000, here in Colorado. He attended Stanley British Primary School, Bishop Machebeuf High School, and continued his education at the Community College of Denver studying political science.
Eclectic, energetic, poised, and curious. He was a lifetime learner always involved in learning and creating new passion projects. He took a special interest in east Asian culture, immersing himself in the exploration of the various languages and traditional meals. He loved photography, taking pictures showing the world the way he viewed it. He loved fashion and embraced dressing well and will definitely be remembered for his clean-cut looks. He was also a Harry Potter and Star Wars aficionado knowing in depth all of the characters and plotlines. He loved architecture pointing out unique buildings and even spent hours creating his own worlds. He was always the life of the party, anytime music came on Henock was the first to be called to the dance floor.
One thing Henock will always be remembered for however, is his gentle caring side. He along with his mom Yrgalem brought life back to a barren garden planting and taking care of many herbs, fruits and vegetables. Along with the garden, Henock’s room often looked like a forest with new plants, fish, and other animals he single handedly cared for. Specifically his cat Dolce, dog Alpha, and an aquarium emerged with everything from lobsters, snails, frogs, and all types of fish.
In addition to the care he took for plants, animals, and fish, he always knew how to bring warmth and energy into a room, making sure everyone around him felt welcomed and included. He always wanted to know how those near him were doing and made sure to listen attentively with love and care.
Henock will be so deeply missed, he brought warmth into every room he entered. He was kind and always willing to talk. He was a caretaker. Henock is beloved by his family.
He entered eternal rest on February 12, 2022. Henock is survived by his mother, Yrgalem Tesema; father, Tewodros (“Teddy”) Yohannes Zewde; step-mother Aster Waldu; step-father Haile Melaku; sister Sarah Haile, brothers Adam and Joseph Yohannes and many loving cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.
A funeral service for Henock will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, 16200 E Colfax Ave, Aurora, CO 80011.
