James Kirkland Weaver “ Kirk” passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025. As an inpatient at Denver Hospice, Kirk was blessed with the best care and support of his family and the dedicated Hospice Care Team. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marilyn Weaver of Englewood, Colorado. In addition, Kirk’s surviving family is his brother ALan, ALan’s wife, KaroLyn and their two sons David and Josh . They reside in and around Pinehurst, Texas.
Kirk had a 40-Year successful career in insurance and financial services. Beginning his career in Houston with PhiladeLphia Life and Tenneco, Kirk spent 14 years as a Regional Manager, Vice President Field Operations, Manager of Group Sales and Representative of Group SaLes. In 1982, Kirk moved to Denver and joined Insurance Designers, an innovative Insurance Brokerage Company, run by a family friend, James C. Hopkins.
Once Kirk was recruited by Provident Mutual Life to build a new region in Colorado, Arizona, WYoming and New Mexico, Kirk dedicated all his energy and experience to recruiting and training Insurance agents to become SEC licensed financial advisors. Over the next 1 8 years, Kirk was recognized as one of the Top two regional sales offices in the company.
Kirk was a passionate fan of all aspects of the University of Texas. As a kid he and his father listened to Texas Football on game days. He had hoped to attend Texas after graduation. The untimely death of his father meant staying closer to home. His fondest memories are of going to the Texas-OU game in Dallas, attending the Rose Bowl game against Michigan, and the Rose Bowl against USC for the National Championship.
One of Kirk's favorite musical artists was Frank Sinatra. Just like Frank, Kirk always described his life as "I did it my way". I am sure in heaven he is piloting amazing airplanes, driving exotic cars and listening to fine music as a dedicated audiophile.
