John Takeshi Nitta, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on August 24th at the age of 63. John was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and was the youngest of five children. He was predeceased by his parents Kay and Nancy Nitta. He married his wife, Sherri (Miyazawa), in 1982. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 1980 with dual bachelor degrees in Marketing and Distributive Education, and pursued a career in teaching before becoming a pharmaceutical sales representative, and eventually finishing his career in medical equipment sales. After his retirement in 2019, he worked tirelessly as a Board Member of the Tri-State Denver Buddhist Temple and other organizations he was passionate about.
John will always be remembered for his energy, dedication and competitive spirit. Whether he was family, friend, teacher, coach, or colleague, he leaves behind a legacy that was founded on hard work, loyalty, a positive attitude, and a love of people. Nothing meant more to John than shooting the breeze or sharing a meal with his friends and family. An avid sports enthusiast, John would rarely miss a Nuggets game, and spent several days a week out on the links. Still, nothing made John happier than spending time with his kids and grandkids. Their endless adventures brought so much joy and laughter.
John is survived by his wife (Sherri), his son (Tyler), daughter-in-law (Jackie), daughter (Crystal Himmel), son-in-law (Greg Himmel), and grandchildren (Tyson, Riley, and Logan). He is also survived by his brothers (Clyde, Wayne and Alan) and sister (Marcia Sasaki).
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, September 19th at 2pm at the Denver Botanic Gardens.
