Lena Caroline Davis died January 8, 2013 at the age of 89 years. She was born in Silt, Colorado to Charles and Alma Terry September 5, 1923. Lena worked the ranch raising cattle and sheep while riding her favorite horse Sailor. She was by far the best shot in the family. She worked for the trolley car company in Denver. She met her husband of 66 years at a dance in Denver. She married Elmer T. Davis in 1946, and together had 4 sons: Tom, Rick, Gary, and Keith. While married to Elmer she was fortunate to travel the world, living in France, Germany, and all over the United States. Lena and family finally settled back in Colorado in 1966 where they moved to Shady Meadows Trailer Park. It was there where Lena made many lifelong friends while registering the tenants. In 1976 the Davis family moved down the road by Hinkley High School. Lena continued to make lifelong friends and was neighborly to everyone she met. During the 1980’s Lena helped Elmer with the State Bowling Tournament for 8 years. When she wasn’t helping with the bowling tournaments, Lena loved to put her green thumb to work. She loved roses and lilacs and her vegetable garden, though she spent more time keeping her grandchildren out of the vegetable garden than producing large crops. She was always giving flowers and tomatoes to any neighbor who’d have them. Lena also bowled in several women’s leagues and loved to square dance in her spare time. Lena lived for her family. She kept her 4 boys in tip-top shape while living the military life. Lena also loved giving her time to her 5 grandchildren: Yvette, Karina, TJ, Terry, Jenny, and Petra. When the grandchildren grew up Lena was excited for her 8 great-grandchildren: Alaceia, Tayla, Brenden, Alexandra, Avery, Kaitlyn, Seth, and Aubry.
Lena was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a loving and loyal friend to all. She will be missed dearly by all.
