LeRoy Humphrey Jr. passed away during the early morning hours of January 31, 2012 to natural causes. Roy as he liked to be called was 86 years old. Roy was the oldest of 3 brothers. He was born on September the 5th 1926 to LeRoy and Flora Humphrey. The family lived in Denver Colorado. Roy graduated from South High School in Denver and soon enlisted in the Army to serve his country. His tour in the Army was cut short due to an urgent medical issue. Roy was honorably discharged in 1945 and attended college for a short time. He worked various jobs until he met Hildreth Wiers in 1954. Roy and Hil were married that same year and soon had 3 sons. Roy then worked at the US Postal Service as a mail carrier through the rest of his working life until he retired with 30 years of service. Roy and Hil have been members of the same Church from their early years through the present which is now known as the South Fellowship Church. Roy was born again when he was a young man and had always stayed true to his convictions and religious beliefs. He gave praise to Jesus for everything in his life and was guided by him. Roy always had a great appreciation for the written word and had a true hunger for knowledge. He would spend a lot of time reading history, poetry, and literature, and greatly enjoyed classical music. During his spare time he would do some writing of his own about his thoughts and experiences. Roy had a true gift with words. The most important thing in the world to him was his family who he loved very much. One of the things that Roy had written years ago as a last wish for us was to “Be cheerful for I am with Him”. Roy was loved and respected by his family and friends and will be missed very much.
Roy is survived by his loving family - His wife Hildreth of 58 years, 3 sons and their spouses, Joel and Cheryl, Dan and Elaine, John and Sherri, 2 granddaughters and their Spouses Annette and Burt, Aja and James, 3 grandchildren Sidney, Austin, and Megan and 3 great grandsons Carter, Keegan, and Liam.
Now free from all the woes of this earth, he is most certainly basking in the light of the Lord Jesus Christ, and will be for eternity….
