Maryann Rose Rains

Maryann Rose Rains, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on November 24th, 2024, at the age of 88. She was born in Denver, Colorado on February 16, 1936 to Paul and Emma Smith. She graduated from Aurora High School, where she began building the foundation of a life filled with love and community.

In June of 1953, Maryann married the love of her life, Donald Rains. Together, they built a life full of joy and raised three sons. As a devoted homemaker, Maryann cherished her role as a mother and later as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was incredibly proud of her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love will live on through her sons, Jerry (Rose Long) and Thomas (Kim); grandchildren, Megan, Jennifer (Jay), and Kaitlin (Alex), Michael (Kira) Partrick, Kendra (Tyler) Partrick and great-grandchildren Emma, Layla, Dane, and Owen; niece Deborah (Tom) Klein, and nephew Conrad (Pam), who will all miss her dearly.

Maryann’s heart was deeply rooted in the eastern plains of Aurora, where she enjoyed the peace and beauty of the land for many years. She was an active member of the Cherry Creek Grange, where her dedication and kindness made a lasting impact on all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald in May of 2012; her son, Daniel in October of 2021; her parents in 1986 and 1990; and her brother, Henry in July of 2007.

Maryann’s warmth, strength, and unwavering love will never be forgotten. A funeral service for Maryann will be held Thursday, December 5, 2024 beginning with a viewing at 10:00AM, a rosary at 10:30AM, followed by a funeral mass at 11AM, all at Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Parish, 18000 E Arapahoe Rd, Aurora, CO 80016. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Olinger Eastlawn Cemetery, 19600 E Smith Rd, Aurora, CO 80011.
