My BFF and I were looking up (via GOOGLE) some of our favorite teachers from our school days in SW Denver and we came across Mr. Fenske's obit here. Not sure if you'll see this four years later, but he was such a wonderful man--we were in his Lincoln H.S. Creative Textiles classes multiple years in the late 70's and just loved him. I'm sure your thoughts turn to him often this time of year. Our memories of the ones we loved live on and we hold them dear.  Carol Davis Warner / Denver

I am so sorry for your loss.  In 1953, your Dad was my 4th Grade Teacher at Edison Elementary School.  He was never harsh, but firm.  Once he kept me after school – not to discipline me but to give me some advice.  While in Junior High School after school, I returned to Edison, worked as a “Sweeper Boy,” and would see him frequently.  He and other teachers, Mr Bill Lewis and Mr. Bob Stimack would use the school boiler room as the male teacher's lounge and have coffee with the school janitor Andy Anderson.  He and the other teachers would always ask how I was doing – he truly cared for his students.  For several years, I followed his advice but did not have a real understanding of its impact until years later – sometimes you have to grow up a little to realize the importance of counsel.  I think it was shortly after I went on to High School he transferred to teach at juvenile hall.  Several years later in 1971, “Brother Paul,” was part of my initiation into the Masonic Lodge.  After the ceremony over dinner, I had the chance to reintroduce myself and thank him for his advice 20 years earlier.  Although he did not recall the incident, he did remember me.  He was a great teacher – counselor – a great father, grandfather and husband.  I was his student and will never forget him – because he cared.  Your family is in my prayers.

So sorry to hear this. Emily the children and I will miss him very much. We love you and our thinking about you Grandma.

My heart goes out to Karen and Tom and the entire Fenske family for your loss of such a wonderful father and friend. I remember your father as a kind and patient man who granted much grace to teenagers who didn't always exemplify such qualities. His love and spirit will always be with you.

Mr. Fenske was my 5th grade teacher @ Edison Elementary School.  His Mother lived next store to my Grandma, Florine Wiltsie on Raleigh Street.  Mr. Fenske was dearly loved by all of his students.

We were certainly sorry to hear of Paul's passing. He and his family were wonderful neighbors to us all back when they lived on So. Gaylord. On behalf of my Mom Mary Strubel and our family, I would like to say that you are all in our thoughts and prayers and to Tom and Karen, I am thinking of you!! Mr. Fenske was always so nice and tolerant of us when we would invade the Fenske home as teenagers! His artistic ability was amazing. The slide show brought back many happy memories. I am glad to see he enjoyed his life to the fullest and was always surrounded by his loving family. I, too, wish I could be there to celebrate his life. My thoughts and prayers will be with Karen and Tom and their families.

I remember Paul as an amazingly creative  person. His fine wood work and paintings filled the Fenske house with color and joy. My thoughts are with Karen and Tom and the rest of his big beautiful family.

We will miss him.  He was a kind, talented man and he made the world a better place!!!  What a beautiful slideshow full of lots of wonderful, happy memories.   I wish I could be there with you Thursday to celebrate his life, but know that my heart and prayers are with you all.  Rest in Peace Mr. Fenske!
