Scott Petty, 47, went to be with his Lord on March 24, 2010 in Aurora, Colorado. He is survived by his parents Dorothy Petty, Aurora, and Roy Petty of Galveston, Texas; beloved sisters Leah Petty and Carla Shirley; step-mother Lynda Petty; step-children Kayla, Nick and Nina; wife, Mary Petty; and Sheldan, his faithful canine companion.
He was born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma and grew up in Jackson, Missouri. Scott attended University Missouri-Columbia, and was a proud alumni of the Marching Mizzou. He also lived for several years in Oelwein, Iowa before moving to Pueblo, Colorado.
Scott was an Eagle Scout and was involved with the American Boy Scouts for most of his life. He was also a volunteer and, later, a full-time employee, with the American Red Cross. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hiker and kayaker. He also was involved for many years in the Society for Creative Anachronism, using the name of Naitan de Yerdeburc, as a cook and a herald and served that organization in many roles over the years. He had a love for his fellow man and for the world he lived in that can never be measured. He will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to have known him.
At his request, cremation with no services. In lieu of food and flowers, donations may be made to the local chapter of the National Kidney Foundation in care of the funeral home.
