

Ruth McCann was born on July 8, 1921 in Hackensack, NJ to Frederick and Clara Kaufhold. She died on March 31, 2017 at Porter Hospice Residence in Centennial, CO. Ruth was married to Air Force Col. James J. McCann, Sr. Ruth travelled the US and Europe as an Air Force spouse, raised her six children and settled in Arvada, Colorado where she resided for 40 years. Ruth enjoyed her volunteer years with Hospice, Lutheran Medical Center and Secrest Elementary School. Her many hobbies included needlework, gardening, sewing and creating miniature rooms and doll houses. She is survived by two sisters: Isabel Culmone of Palm Coast, FL and Anita Sinclair of Teaneck, NJ; two sons: James (Carol) McCann of South Bend, IN and Mike (Brenda) McCann of Papillion, NE; four daughters: Ruth McConkey of White Plains, MD, Patty (Don) Simpson of LaPlata, MD, Terry (Marty) Gorman of Montgomery, TX and Joan McCann of Parker, CO; 16 grandchildren: Mike (Manon) McCann, Chris (David) Grossnickle, Carrie (Matt) Steenbeke, Kevin (Carrie) McCann, Patrick (Beth) McCann, Daniel McCann, Joe (Kelsey) McCann, John McCann, Paul McConkey, Jim McConkey, Stephen McConkey, Theresa Seek, Katrina McConkey, Debbie Simpson, Jason Simpson and Sean (Jess) Gorman; 14 great-grandchildren: Amy (Jeff) Heitz, Bobby Grossnickle, Dani (Ryan) McAfee, Katie (Taylor) Engle, Joey (Stephanie) Steenbeke, Billy Steenbeke, Ryan McCann, Jadyne McCann, Andrew McConkey, Azara Seek, Dakota Seek, Corbin Seek, Seth Rison and Callan Gorman; and two great-great grandchildren: Gracie and Micah McAfee. She was pre-deceased by her parents and two great-grandchildren; Cristian McConkey and Ryan Simpson. Visitation will be held at Olinger Moore Howard Chapel at 4345 West 46th Ave. Denver, CO 80212 on Wednesday April 5, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 10:00 am at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church 3900 Pierce St. Wheat Ridge, CO with burial and reception to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery 7777 West 29th Ave. Wheat Ridge, CO. Memorial contributions may be made to Porter Hospice Residence.
