On January 17, 2026, Vivian Sue Lamb, passed away, at age 64, from spinal cancer. The third child of Ray and Lorie Lamb of Aurora, Colorado, she was born on June 7, 1961, and shared that birthday with her dad.
She was a good student in school, having a special talent for writing. She also developed an early love of animals and even kept and trained pet rats for a time!
She took organ lessons as she grew up, eventually learning some Bach classics and also briefly took up the violin as an adult. Most did not know she had a nice singing voice as well. As time went on, she developed a well-crafted, unique sense of humor, with which she entertained her family and friends regularly!
She graduated from Smoky Hill High School in Aurora, and from the University of Colorado in Boulder, with a B.S. degree in Journalism in 1983. Her first professional job was in the control room of a TV station in Grand Junction, CO. While living there, she adopted a smooth collie puppy and named her Kimosabe, Kimo for short. She trained Kimo, who became an amazing Frisbee and ball catcher. She even authored a dog training manual. She had many dogs over the years (Kimo, Bear, Jovi, Murph, Zoey and Indy), but Kimo remained her favorite. She was sad to leave Grand Junction to take a job in NYC after that, but her beloved Kimo was by her side.
She went on to work at Porter Henry in NYC and for both AT&T and DIRECTV, home-based in Aurora, where she bought a 2 bedroom house.
She didn’t travel much but did get to Alaska with a friend. After that, she settled down into her training and editing work at DIRECTV and kept her nose to the grindstone for many years.
Some of her favorite things were Indian food, Star Trek reruns, Haydn cello music, the colors teal green and mallard blue, and reading science fiction books. She could carry on an enlightened conversation with pretty much anyone, and her sweet personality will surely be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving siblings, Karen, Brian, Allison, Adrienne, and Jim, and a number of nieces and nephews. They will fulfill Vivian’s wishes of having her ashes scattered in Grand Junction in the spring and follow it with a party celebrating her life.
