Aldo Cecchin, 92, of Niles, Illinois passed away on January 28th, 2024. He was born on January 1, 1932 to Giulio and Regina Cecchin in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the Army during the Korean War for 2 years and returned home in 1952 and then married his loving wife Theresa and they were together for the next 64 years. Aldo loved Theresa’s Italian cooking with risotto, meatballs and manicotti being some of his favorites. He was the loving father of Regina (Matt), Tony (Ann Marie), Paul (Nanci), John (Renee) and Tom (Lisa) Cecchin; devoted “Papa” to Andrew (Julie), Matthew, Dan (Emma), Kathryn (Jeff), Christopher, Samantha (Mike), Nick, Emily, Michelle, Joey and Gio. Great-Papa to Ava, Nathan, Theo, Evelyn and Owen. Aldo was also the dear brother of the late Gildo Cecchin (Carol) and Lee Cecchin (Lorrie) and big brother to his sister Ida Zaniolo (late Orfeo). Aldo was the uncle of countless nieces and nephews in the family and he loved each and every one of them.
Aldo was a devoted family man and his hobbies were family, family and more family! No one was more important to him than his wife Terry, whom he adored. She always made him smile. In his spare time, he loved going to the casino with friends and neighbors along with playing poker with his brothers when he was younger which then switched to his sons in the later years. He worked for Motorola, Inc for close to 40 years and received his Accounting degree at night from Northwestern University as he juggled his time to support his family. He opened A.C. Accounting and was known as the “Taxman” to many as he continued this business for over 50 years when he finally decided to call it quits at 90 years old! During his tax days, he had his dog, Scottie by his side to keep him company; he loved that dog so much.
Aldo never missed a graduation, basketball, baseball, football, softball, tennis, soccer, cheerleading, dance or musical event and was known by many in the high school stands. He loved watching his grandchildren in all their activities. He was very proud of all of them!
Near the end he struggled to do some of the “normal” things in life but at the age of 92 he was fortunate to have lived a long, healthy and blessed life. We will cherish the memories. He will now support us in Heaven and we have another angel that we can count on. We love you, miss you, and you will always live in our hearts.
Ciao!! Go Cubs!
