Carmen J. Sarlo of Des Plaines since 1957. Visitation for Carmen J. Sarlo, 85, will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St. (Northwest Highway/Route 14 at Rand Road), Des Plaines. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the funeral home, with Rev. Dr. William Grice officiating. Interment will be in Town of Maine Cemetery, Park Ridge. Born Oct. 27, 1927, in Melrose Park, he passed away Jan. 17, 2013. Carmen was employed for 30 years with International Harvester. He was a former coach and umpire with the Devon-Higgins Little League, past president of the Orchard Place Civic Association and the Orchard Place PTA, former alderman for the City of Des Plaines for 22 years, and was very involved in the Girl and Boy Scouts of America. He was the husband of the late Harriet D. (nee Lichtwark); father of Linda M. (David) Braum, Nancy J. Sarlo, Robert W. Sarlo, Ronald F. (Linda) Sarlo and the late David C. Sarlo; and grandfather of Stephanie, Michelle and Nathan. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association, appreciated.
