My condolences to Ed's family. I was able to meet and work with him through a leadership program focused specifically on developing Asian leaders and he was such a thoughtful participant. Sending so much warmth and love to Ed's family and friends.

I am so sad to hear of this news.  I worked with Ed last year and  heard of his passing when I came back from leave.  He had so much good energy and will truly be missed.  We shared an affinity for gardening and shared tips on planting all the time.  Rest in Peace.

I am a friend and former co-worker of Ed's, and I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing.  Ed was an incredible friend and a devoted husband and father.  When I started with his team, Ed went out of his way to welcome me and invite me to lunch.  He shared his faith openly and we immediately connected in that way.  Even after Ed left CVS, we continued to meet for coffee and deep conversations on a regular basis.  Ed always amazed me in how he made his faith the lens by which he viewed everything, including major decisions in his life.  We always prayed proudly together in the middle of Starbucks, and Ed gave me the courage to be that bold!  He was a light to everyone he came in touch with, and the world will miss him deeply.  I pray that he is enjoying being in the presence of his savior, and my sincere condolences go out to his lovely family.  May God give you strength.

PART 4:

As I matured as a man, I realized how even greater of a man Ed was as I saw what kind of son, sibling, father, husband he meant to our family. He was the center piece of our family. From the text messages, to emails, to family trips and events, Ed was the glue, our heart and soul. That is why his loss is so painfully palpable. 

I feel fortunate that just a few months ago, I was able to visit him. I had just finished taking my boards in chicago, and we were able to chill one last time to celebrate my final exam and Ed’s beautiful new home! 

I am embarrassed to say, I yapped in his ear for almost 3 hours on how stressed I was and how difficult life was, but as Ed usually did, he listened to me, showed me grace, love, compassion. He was my big brother as always, funny, calm, cool, warm, loving, caring. He was time and time and again my awesome, big brother. 

One of his last messages to me that night in my moment of despair,  was to be encouraged, always have hope, to love your family, put your faith in god, and pray. Today, although Ed is gone, I find some peace that he did the same. 

Thank you Ed, I love you Ed. I will miss you all the days of my life.

PART 3:
Ed was my biggest supporter. I stayed with Ed and Nari for a summer in Chicago while doing research as a med student.  at that time Ed had bought his first  house, and had his first baby Jilian. And despite the chaos of having a newborn,  Nari and Ed let me stay with them for that summer. That summer was one my favorite summers of my life. We played hoops, we explored the city,  we shared meals together, bbq’d on the back porch, watered his garden. I really felt I was a part of their beautiful young family even though things were so chaotic. Most poingnant of all, Ed  never complained. I would come home late, make a mess, rarely make my bed, i’d even bring home fast food for Ed so we could watch ESPN and eat late night grub together, which probably was not the best thing for his diet, but yet, he never complained. It was such a carefree time for me! One of the best summers of my life. 

except for that one time when he told me I had to pee sitting down, bc I was making too much of a mess, per Nari! But thanks to that, I never make a mess now! and my own kids do the same!

And even in death, Ed was a close confidant who showed me the way. I remember when his childhood best friend Matt who was a navy pilot passed away in Afghantastan, he asked me attend his funeral at MIramar miliatary base. I was a college student at UCSD at the time. And looking back, I would like to think he invited me for my company, but now i know, he was just being a big brother,  to prepare me for moments like this. To show me how to grieve. 

Ed showed me so much love from the get go. From trips to vegas, to central america, Ed showed me how beautiful life should be, bc that’s how he lived…beautifully!
For the last few years, I began to see Ed in a different light, as I myself had entered a new stage of life as a father and husband. For Ed, gone were the days of young living. The Ed I revered so much had passed. 

PART 2

When I was in my teens, I told Ed about a college tour all my friends were going on and how I was bummed I couldn’t go bc of money. Ed surprised me one day, and said to not worry about it, that he would personally take me on a college tour himself to his alma mater, Cal POly San louis obispo. I was so excited! It was  my first road trip away from home.  We drove up the California coast In his sweet ride, his white Acura legend,  and we just talked. From sports, to girls, to our family, and on deeper level, our hopes and dreams, we really got to know each other. When we arrived, We were greeted by his closest friends. He toured me around campus, his chem lab, introduced me to his professors.  I was awe struck! Ed was so popular, and cool. There was my big brother. Even his professors greeted him with a big hug and smile . 

And to cap off the trip, he took me to my first college party. I had a blast. 

Ed had such a warm and affable personality: he could talk to anyone and befriend anybody. During this time of year, Ed would usually be “home” for the holidays from traveling as a consultant. And in his spontaneous way, he be like, Lets go the clipper game! Ed loved going to sporting events. And so wed pack up our stuff, park the car. and like any normal person, i’d start walking up the ticket booth , but Ed had different ideas. I’d see him walking the opposite direction, waving his arm at me to come over, and drag me to scour the dark alleys around staples center. And then he’s tell me, Eddie,were going ticket scalping! I was in disbelief….we’re doing what!?

And then the next thing you know, Ed and the scalper would be exchanging bro hand shakes, even bro hugs, and then we’d be sitting court side, enjoying the game with beer in hand. Ed would have a huge smile on his face And In his raspy voice look at me and say Eddie, we got these seats for dirt cheap! High fives, chest pumps all around! Ed was so awesome that way!

hello everyone

my name is Eddie, and I am Ed’s little brother.

For those folks that don’t know me, I know what you may be thinking, 

Are there really two Ed’s in the same family? 

I know I know, don’t worry, I thought that same thing when our parents got together over 30 years ago. I knew it could make for interesting Christmas get togethers. But Yes, you heard correctly, there are two Ed’s in the same family, ed and I we’re step brothers. 

But despite that distinction, As we got to know each other early on we learned we had a lot in common. 

We both loved sports and were good athletes. Ed would of course say he was the better athlete. ed was an all league,  high school Linebacker back in the day. His claim to fame was that he laid out, I mean laid out, all pro defensive back Jason Sehorn football player for the New York giants. For a big man, Ed could certainly move. In our early days, we played a lot of one on one  basketball. My pre game scouting report for ed would read as follows: quick feet, strong in the post, good mid range jumper. That report  was spot on. I couldn’t stop his game even in my prime and to this day, he would remind me of that. 
On a deeper level, Ed and I both shared the grief of losing parents at an young age. Ed lost his mother at 14, i lost my father at 10.
Ed was the youngest of his set of 3 siblings in his family….i was the only child from mine. 

And so from the outset, Ed and I had some common footing. And despite my annoying personality traits as a younger brother and affliction with only child syndrome , Ed took me under his wing. For these last 30 years, Ed was my biggest supporter, my greatest teacher. He was my big brother, and one of my best friends.

Dear family and friends,

We are all gathered here today because we love Ed.  We love Ed because he was the most affable, lovable, generous, and genuine person.  To know Ed is to love him.  He has uplifted us with his wicked sense of humor, goofy smile and effervescent personality.  We witnessed and admired Ed living out his life with so much zeal and positive energy in all things.  He was the last child who brought so much joy and pride to mom and dad.  He was our baby brother who brought so much care and meaning to loving relationships for his sister and I.  And later in his life he became a responsible guardian big brother to our new baby brother.  And ultimately, he became the most responsible, loving, and caring husband and father to his children.  He selflessly sacrificed his time and resources in favor of spending time with his children and providing for the family.

Some may think he was blessed to be borned with such great disposition and attributes.  Some may think he was just natural at being a great child, great brother, great friend, great husband and being the greatest dad.  Yes, Ed was born with all these goodness.  But Ed was made to be who he was.  Ed was made to take his goodness to GREATNESS.

I want to share with the story of our family that may shed light and understanding on who Ed is and how he became the person he was.  We are an immigrant family.  In 1978, when Ed was 6 years old we arrived in the U.S.  He, nor I, who is 5 years older, nor my sister, who is 7 years older than Ed, knew any English when we set foot on this land.  Our parents were highly educated in Korea but had limited ability to communicate in this new world.  From that point on, the children in our family became the conduit for our parents to communicate with the outside world.

Like so many immigrant families, mom and dad started a small business.  First, our family cleaned office buildings in the after hours.  Our entire fa

Part 4
We are going to miss you so much.  There is no one that will make Nari, Jillian, Alexander, and Lucy laugh like you did, but we are all going to cherish your life and memory for the rest of our lives, until we meet you again face to face in heaven worshiping and rejoicing  in God’s presence.  Nari and all of God’s people gathered here know and are assured that “neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creations, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is Christ Jesus our Lord”.  

Even in our grief or perhaps precisely because of the great grief and sadness we are experiencing at the loss of our brother Ed…people of God can declare that God is good and our hope springs eternal.  


Part 3
Ed was a great father to Jillian, Alexander, and Lucy…and a wonderful husband to Nari.  Ed brought so much laughter to his kids.  He was very intentional and tried to show his kids how to live by example.  Even cutting his lawn…he refused to hire someone to cut the lawn…He would tease me and say “real men do their own lawn”.   He later told me that he cut his own lawn to show his kids the value of hard work.  In one random text we exchanged, he typed…”What are the dimensions of your kitchen island?  We want to follow you." Me.. “9x6…honestly too wide. Can’t reach things in the middle.”  Ed…” Width should match the drawer length.  Too wide is not ergonomic.”  Me… "exactly…I don’t win any arguments with my wife, but you already knew that.” Ed… “#metoo”.  Me… “are you starting a new #metoo movement? Husbands will silently unite behind that…Delete these texts.” And then he types…”I am happy that Nari pushed me to adopt Lucy.”  Ed was so happy…not because of the new house or anything else material.  He loved his family so much.  
Even in your death, you showed us by example that this is all our destination eventually and can happen any second any day.  We are all going to leave this earth and you showed us through your life how to live and how to die, living so incredibly in generosity for others and living for Christ, having faith in Jesus Christ who conquered death.  You were ready and we all need to follow your example by putting our faith in Jesus too.  We must all get ready.  

Part 2:
Ed loved kids and teaching/guiding them. He told me that he had wanted to be a teacher when he was young.  He volunteered to teach a coding class using Scratch, making Power Points, and setting up the Kids Land Garden at church.  He roped me into volunteering for these classes together and it was FUN.  I appreciated the opportunity to spend more time with Ed.  He would have been a great teacher.  And as I read through the many notes from his former colleagues at work, I saw that he was a great mentor and friend to many at his workplaces.  
He invested in the kingdom of God by supporting missionaries and important mentoring work in the city of Chicago.  He and Nari were a team.  He especially believed in our family’s mission to raise leaders in Chicago’s toughest neighborhoods, investing in servant leaders.  He was such an incredible encouragement to my wife and I.  We went to him to ask for advice and constantly asked him to join our board.  He was such a dear friend.  He was also quick to encourage Joe as he started a ministry serving the Lakota people in Pine Ridge South Dakota.  He trusted and discerned…but he did it quickly.  He didn’t sit back to wait to be impressed…he joined…he worked…he loved and he served.  He got his hands dirty.  He left a legacy that will last even in his death.  

PART 1:
I can’t believe I’m here to eulogize you.  You left us too soon, too suddenly.  We are heartbroken.  We haven’t been able to stop crying since you suddenly left us.  It was only Monday of that week that I saw Ed in the same garage to drop off a bike for donation.  Ed was collecting bikes for a refugee family with three kids in Chicago.  Those of us who knew Ed would not have been surprised that he was thinking of others, especially the ones in need or the most vulnerable.  Ed led our church by example.  He didn’t need someone to tell him to care about the poor, the widow, the orphans.  He obeyed the Word of God and we wanted to do it with him.  
I first met Ed when I joined Lakeview Church a little over six years ago.  I remember thinking, “hey that guy looks familiar”.   It turns out that Ed and I both worked at CVS and we had just moved into offices on the opposite sides of the same floor.   I really got to know him and Nari better as we spent more time together in our church small group.  We became fast friends and I looked up to him as an older brotherly figure.  It was really easy to love Ed.  I think he knew it too.  He would say to me…”I have friends all over the country.  I can just couch-surf all over the country.”  Ed’s life was an open book.  There was no pretense about him.  He was the same Ed I knew at church, at work, and in his personal life.  He shared about growing up in northern California in a small town and the pain of losing his mother at a young age and how his sister and brother helped to raise him.  I think the struggles he had growing up shaped him to be an empathetic and loving man that we all knew him to be.  A few years ago, I had a health scare and Ed noticed how I had been losing weight and not looking very healthy.  I was very worried and anxious before my exam.  Ed showed so much care and prayed for me.  Ed was one of the first people I called to tell him that the exam went well. 


Part 4:
I vicariously lived out American experiences through Ed. I had never been to a Friday night football game, nor a high school basketball game before I was able to attend the games that Ed participated in. I’ve never been to a prom or was in any way a part of high school social life. Yet, I was able to live out my American experiences, American dreams through the life of Ed.
Unfortunately, today I have say goodbye to my American dream.... My dear brother.... My dear friend .... I LOVE YOU! .... I say goodbye to you for NOW .... BUT I think I will hold on to my American dream.... Because this American Dream now lives through your children.... Jillian, Alex and Lucy .... I LOVE YOU!

Part 3
This is where our family lives split. I went to live with a friend’s family to finish out my senior year in highschool. My sister went off to college. And Ed at 11 years old went with mom and dad to live in this small town called Burney that has no stop lights and one grocery store, NO franchise restaurants and one can drive through the town in 3 minutes driving at 30 miles per hour. Ed’s high school graduating class was about 50 students.
Now it was Ed alone working with mom and dad to run the business. For the next three years I only saw Ed during summer break.
When Ed was 15 years old our mom became ill with cancer. My sister and I took a year break from college and lived in Burney taking care of mom, family and running the business. Mom’s illness was difficult and physically she was dying little by little each day. After a year of intense suffering, mom passed away. Mom was 48 years old and Ed was 16 years old, a junior in high school.
Yes, indeed. Our immigrant life in the US was difficult.... And was filled with many trials and tribulations. However, the irony in life is quite often, what appears to be a curse is a blessing.
Ed’s jubilant and outgoing personality was crafted through a difficult
introverted latch kid upbringing. Ed’s affable and lovable trait was formed through the most difficult circumstances of immigrant family life. Ed’s generous and giving side was empathy from growing up with hardly any material resources. Ed’s genuine zeal for life was born out of losing the most important person in his life, mom, so early in his life. And Ed became the best dad to his children because the difficult circumstances of immigrant life had short-changed him of time and luxury experiencing a close parents-child relationship.
As for me, Ed represents my American dream. I might have been too old when I started my journey in the U.S. Or I probably lacked the personality to fit into mainstream American life quite the way Ed was able to navigate.

Part 2
First, our family cleaned office buildings in the after hours. Our entire family would get into a car and visit these buildings after the office workers had gone home and we would clean the building. Mom and dad would clean the bathrooms, wipe down the windows. I would vacuum the carpet, my sister would change out the trash bins. And the office buildings became Ed’s playground. He just had one condition. He couldn’t make a mess....
A playground without a mess? .... by definition is an oxymoron! Ed might have been yelled at a few times for just being a kid.
After that adventure, our family took over a hamburger shop. Mom and dad operated the shop during the daytime and we became latchkey kids. After school we would do homework and look out for each other. And during weekends, we would all go work at the shop. I would flip burgers and work the grill, sister Jo would take the counter and take orders. And Ed would accompany mom and dad on all supply run outings. We worked together as a family and worked hard at it.... But financial success was elusive.
Working hard was no solution for this immigrant family that was not familiar with the culture and the way things got done in this society. After toiling away for a couple of years we had to give it up.
Then mom and dad tried operating a factory cafeteria. It was a moderate success. So, after a couple of years mom and dad tried a restaurant business.... A DISASTER! .... Let’s just say that “running a restaurant is a difficult business”. By this time Ed was 10 years old and was working in the back kitchen alongside me every weekend and during school breaks. We worked and worked and worked but the business failed. We lost everything! ... With no other option, mom and dad took a job running a small lodge in the backcountry deep in the Northern California mountain range.

Thank you for your generosity to Monster Education Foundation. You gave so much and brought people together to serve the less fortunate. That was just who you were.  You made it easy. You and Nari were a great team.

We are going to miss you so much. There is no one that will make Nari, Lucy, Jillian,  and Alex laugh like you did... but we are going to all cherish your life and memory for the rest of our lives,  until we meet you again face to face in heaven. 

Your legacy will continue. Thank you for your friendship.

To me he was Big Uncle Ed, even though we're actually cousins. Growing up, that's just the way I thought of him and Jo and Ron, as aunts and uncles: caring, relatable, wise...and just bigger.

I can't hold back the tears when I think about how hard it must be for them. My entire life, I thought of those three as one. I'm so sorry for the loss they feel, and the heartache his parents, and Eddie, and his wife and kids are experiencing. He really was a blessing to all of us who knew him.

Ed was a uniquely good person. I can still hear his voice in my memories. Kinda hollow and scratchy, a little higher pitched and youthful because there was an eternal optimism there. I remember the warmth of his character. The way he would always say things with a big cheeky smile and laugh out loud, filling a room with his kind soul.

It's hard to accept that he's left us too soon. But in this moment, I feel like I can almost see heaven more clearly because I see him there. I hope that brings some solace to all our heavy hearts.

Rest in peace, Uncle Ed. Sending love and well wishes to you forever, and my deepest condolences to your loved ones in this difficult time.

I met Ed back in 2001, when we started together at IBM (actually with Kamal too who also has written here).   Ed was such a genuine, sincere, friendly person, that we all wanted to be friends with and did.  And reading some of the other notes, it is obvious Ed touched many people's lives in the same way.  I'm stunned and sorry to hear about Ed.  My family and I prayed for him and his family last night and will continue to. 

Was very fortunate to share a work trip in Germany with Ed in 2005. I have known Ed for 20 years when, we started at IBM together and continued to keep in touch throughout the years, you will be really missed by many, the world is less in your absence, wish your family well,

Truly heartbreaking to hear of Ed's passing. I had the distinctive honor and privilege of working close with Ed at Grainger for multiple years as he was a close business and thought partner.  While there are no words to express the grief and sympathy at this time, I can only cherish the fond memories of Ed that will live on forever. Ed was a great colleague here at Rockwell, sharing innovative ideas with a helpful attitude.   And a smile.  He will be missed.

We had the pleasure of meeting Ed when his daughter Jillian and our son Elliott played hockey together for one year with the Bulldogs. We carpooled with the Limbs to practices and I have a memory of Ed not just dropping Elliott off but actually always getting out of the car and helping Elliott carry his hockey bag up to our door...a true example of the type of guy he was. I was shocked and devastated when I heard of Ed's passing and am still finding it difficult to believe, how someone so young and full of life can be taken away so soon. My heart goes out to Ed's family. May God protect you, guide you, comfort you and help ease your sorrow as you mourn his death.  Ed, may your soul rest in peace and it was a blessing to have known you.

This is extremely shocking and saddening. I met him for the first time in person last week, and he was a blast. I didn't work with him too closely at Rockwell Automation, but when I did, it was always a pleasure. My condolences to the family and friends, and may he rest in peace.

Ed was a wonderful person. I had the good fortune to work with him. He was a great leader who never shied away from trying new ideas, solving complex problems, providing valuable mentorship & always supporting his team in the process. His words were always encouraging and wise. He always ensured to appreciate the hard work of his colleagues. Its hard to imagine he isn't with us anymore. But as they say, memories live forever. I was shocked to hear the news this Monday morning (12/12/2022). For a moment I could not believe the news that, we will not see your smiling face again. My heart is heavy, and tears in my eyes. We met and talked on 12/7. You were so happy, sharing all the achievements of the year. You made the entire team so proud. 

You were a great colleague, friend and will not be afraid to take the right path, always do right for your team.

Ed will be remembered for his charitable nature, love of hockey, a connoisseur of BBQ and knack to use laughter to add perspective to any situation. Ed will be missed, May he rest in peace.

Ed was more than our director. He was a natural leader, and his leadership style was love. He lifted others up and we are all better for having known him. I was lucky enough to have him as my manager and mentor. Ed, you taught me so much. I will do my best to make sure the lessons you taught me in life live on. I will miss you, my friend. When I heard that Ed had passed it really shocked and saddened me.  I'm still feeling the same feelings.  

Ed and I were classmates and friends at Penn State and even though we were not close I always respected and thought highly of him. He was always friendly and warm and genuine and that's a rare combination in this world. 

Ed was also kind enough to allow me to crash in his room in Jyri's house  while I was transitioning to DC from time abroad (thank you Jyri and Ed!).  When he would come back into town I'd happily return to the couch for a few nights and would have the pleasure of Ed's company doing whatever we did (talk, beer, bball, go around town to name a few). 

What a lovely person and, from the pics posted, a loving dad and husband and son.  My heart goes out to you all and especially the children.

May Ed rest in peace and may you all find comfort in knowing Ed made his mark on the world and you all carry him forward. May we all carry him forward too.

I only crossed path with Ed tangentially but could not help but be impressed by his warm personality.   He reached out to me just for recognizing my name during some Rockwell meetings, and reminded me that we once met more than 15 years ago while at IBM.

Indeed, may the Lord comfort and strengthen your family.  Sometimes we feel that especially good people are taken away from us suddenly, but for whatever reason the Lord has decided to take him away at this time, we rest in the assurance that he is in a better place.

Ed was always cheerful. He lifted up others and displayed the fruit of the spirit and Christian character, always. We were incredibly blessed to have known him since the 7th or 8th grade. Will see him again someday soon!

I met Ed a couple years ago, shortly after I started at Rockwell.  Ed was a good leader who was passionate about people, how to continually improve and someone who I held in high regard.   Ed and the impact he was making will be missed! My thoughts and prayers are with Ed's family at this time. I am so sorry for your loss. Ed was a very kind man and had a heart the size of Texas! He was always looking out for his team and was quick to offer advice whenever I asked, both career and personal. Ed will be missed!

I worked with Ed at Grainger and am heartbroken to hear about his passing. Ed was kind, always willing to help and a bright spot on our team. I remember talking to him about our kids playing hockey and how he jokingly said don't do it as its very time consuming! This world has lost a great soul far too soon. Dear Nari, Jillian, Alexander, and Lucy, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with Ed at the CVS Northbrook office for five years. He was a joy to work with, one of those colleagues you always look forward to seeing, always a positive presence. We worked on a couple of charity events together and it was clear that he had such a giving spirit. He will be greatly missed.

My sincere condolences to his family.  He is a great human being and a good leader from what I heard from his peers. Though I did not worked along with him, but in the group discussions whatever he says there will be a deep technical meanings behind that. Very sorry to heat about this, but for sure god will give strength to his family.

I met Ed in the fall of 1999 at the start of our Penn State MBA program, and we shared a common bond from the beginning. As Asian immigrants from California finding our way in a small college town in the middle of Pennsylvania, Ed brought that sense of home that I needed. 

We grew closer after graduation, both ending up working for IBM in DC. We leaned on each other as we found our way through relationships and jobs in our 30s, celebrated big life moments together, and became first time fathers just a couple of months apart. Ed was always the one with the biggest smile and loudest laugh in the room. And he was incredibly kind to friends and strangers, unconditionally. 

Thank you Ed for those long talks, home cooked meals, big hikes, drunken nights, random road trips…and for being there at my best and worse moments. 

My heart goes out to your beautiful family and the countless people that love your dearly.

I am in absolute shock to hear of Ed’s passing. Ed was one of those people who genuinely radiated joy everywhere he went and to everyone he met. Any time I saw Ed, whether at an event or just in the halls of church, he always had a smile on his face. Cracking jokes to break the tension and just generally being an immense joy to be around. It feels like a huge loss for everyone that had the opportunity to meet him.

Ed - You were truly an amazing human being.  We will miss you my friend.  As the saying goes, you can take Ed out of Burney Falls, but you can never take Burney Falls out of Ed.   Belmont, SF, Chicago, or DC -  we will always remember the great times we had with our friend, Ed.  

I love you Ed. We were roommates. We drove across the country. We backpacked Europe together. We snowboarded all over Utah. I’m broken by this news … you were always here to laugh with, debate with, play basketball. A part of me left with you… to be with you. I love you. I’m still holding you. 

To the family: I met Ed 5+ years ago when I was invited to preach at his church in IL for a weekend revival. Ed was very kind in the way he welcomed me, a stranger. He was also a conversationalist. I enjoyed talking with him. After returning to Atlanta, we loosely kept in touch. In Dec. 2016, I told him my fam and I planned to move to Ethiopia to be missionaries. Ed soon became a monthly supporter. I was amazed at God’s provision through someone I barely knew. He also prayed for us.  Our hearts are saddened to learn of Ed’s passing and pray the Lord’s grace and comfort over those who loved him.  


Nari and family, we're so so sorry. Hearing the news really broke our hearts and we're still in disbelief, honestly. My first memory of Ed was from the early 90s when I was about 13 and he stopped through Chicago with his friends while on a road trip (I think?)... Even though we're first cousins, I hadn't met him earlier in life and it was so thoughtful of him to reach out to us. I was just learning to play guitar at the time and my parents asked me me play something for Ed and his friends. It was totally embarrassing, but Ed was so encouraging about the whole thing. Even back then he always brought so much warmth to a room. I'm so thankful I got to know him more over the years, and that Sally and the kids did too. 

Ed was a joy to all he met. He had a way of making everyone around him smile and he could light up a room, simply by being in it! He always had kind words to say and I am beyond grateful to have been able to grow up with him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family; he will be truly missed. 

This is such a shocking and sad loss… Ed was such a great father, husband, son, and friend. We are going to miss him and his infectious joyful manner and good stories. We loved going on family vacations together. I have so many fond memories of his laugh and fun times. We are here for Nari and the kids- in any way we can support you. All our love and condolences.

There are no words. There is instead a hole left in the universe that cannot be filled. Ed was a special being. He made everyone around him feel special and happy. He shared his smile with us. What he gave me will always be with me. 

I am so very sad to learn of this.  I first met Ed back in 1998 through his sister Jo.  in Kansas City and then when I lived in DC he lived nearby for a while.  I haven't really talked with him much in the last several years unfortunately, but he was a great and friendly guy!  He was always willing to help others out and had a great positive outlook on life!  Prayers for his entire family! 🙏

Our Deepest condolences to the Limb family. We were neighbors for many years and Ed was always outside with his kids playing hockey and lacrosse. He was always up for good conversation and asked about  our family and what our kids were into. Not only a great neighbor but a great guy.
