Eileen Anne Kelly

Eileen Kelly of Hoffman Estates, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2024, at the age of 86. In a poignant twist of fate, Eileen departed this life in the very hospital where she was born on March 11, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois.

Eileen was known for her sharp wit, intelligence, and insatiable sweet tooth. Above all, Eileen loved her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Thomas J. Kelly; as well as her parents, James and Emogene Doyle; in-laws James and Doris Kelly; brother, Thomas Doyle; son-in-law Thomas Schmalz; and sisters-in-law, Mary Kelly, Marge Mastandrea, and Elsie Doyle.

Eileen is survived by her four daughters: Colleen (Charles) Gilbert, Elizabeth (Mark) Kennaugh, Maureen (Steve) Currier, and Kathleen Kelly. She also leaves behind her brother, Jack Doyle; sister-in-law, Elaine Doyle; brothers-in-law, Vince Mastandrea and Jim Kelly; ten adoring grandchildren; and seven (soon to be eight) great-grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply.

A visitation for Eileen will be held from 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines, followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL. Luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the ASPCA, honoring Eileen’s love for dogs and cats—especially those old, plump ones who needed extra care.

Eileen Kelly will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, sense of humor, and progressive ideals will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
