Esther Christine Marquardt

Esther was born to Julius and Esther Knudten on June 12, 1933. On September 26, 1954, she married Emil T. Marquardt who preceded her in death after 46 years of marriage. Together they had four children: Emil (Elsa), Karen, Julie DeVito (Mike), and Eric (deceased). Esther also had two grandchildren, Michelle DeVito (Alec Taylor) and Jenn DeVito, and one great-grandchild, Emmett DeVito. Esther is also survived by her two brothers George (Jackie) and Knudt (Donna--deceased) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was an active volunteer of many charities, an avid reader, and lover of desserts. Everyone who met her commented that she was a sweet person. Esther will be missed by all.

A lie in state will take place from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 855 Lee Street, Des Plaines, IL. A committal service will follow immediately after at Saint Luke Cemetery, 5300 N. Pulaski Road, Chicago, IL.
