
Frederick Charles Lindstrom, 83, formerly of Des Plaines, IL, died on April 6, 2012 in Harwich, MA. Fred was an active and contributing member to the community throughout his entire life. Upon graduation from Northwestern University, he served as a Lieutenant the Air Force during the Korean War. Later, he led programs for neighborhood rehabilitation as the Assistant Commissioner for the Department of Housing for the City of Chicago. As a Vice President at La Salle Bank, he administered the real estate owned program for the bank. An avid sportsman, he loved playing handball, golf and tennis. He was also fond of parties and was known far and wide for his stories, songs and wit as well as his love of history. He is survived by his wife, Jeannine; and two brothers, Andrew and Charles; Fred had six children, Denise (Kim) Rowekamp, Fred Lindstrom, Walter Lindstrom, the late Mark Lindstrom, Lisa Battjes, Andrew (Shanon) Lindstrom; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at the Oehler Funeral Home, Wednesday, April 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at 2099 Miner St. (Northwest Hwy.\Rt. 14 at Rand Rd.), Des Plaines, IL. Funeral will be on Thursday, April 12, 9:15 a.m. from chapel to St. Emily Catholic Church, 1400 E. Central Rd., Mt. Prospect, IL, 10:00 a.m.. Mass. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, MT 59004.
