John J Brennan Sr.

John Joseph Brennan Sr. was born on December 1, 1929 and passed away on July 26, 2023. He was the son of the late Thomas and Zita Rose (Gillespie) Brennan. He is survived by daughters Linda (Thomas) Koch, Annette (Brian) Miller, and a son John Jr. (Chaliang) and a stepchildren Frances (Paul) Stamper and Frank Mineo. John is also survived by his sister Annette, as well as nieces, nephews, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his wife Jacquelyn, son Michael and siblings Eileen, Shirley, Lorna, and Patrick.

John was a Korean War Veteran. His civilian employment history included trade work (as a union carpenter) but John found in 1966 that his calling was firefighting. From 1966-1992 he served on the Chicago Fire Department, receiving commendations and recognition in the process. As a “young” and fit 62 year old, John retired (only because of department policy) at the rank of engineer.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St. Des Plaines, IL 60016. The funeral service will be Thursday, August 3, 2023 starting at 10:00 AM at Saint Pascal Catholic Church, 3935 N. Melvina Ave., Chicago, IL 60634. Interment will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
