Devoted son of Mary and the late Leonard, beloved brother of Jeanne (Brad) Wickham and Jim Parker, loving uncle of Thomas (Sonia) Parker, Kelsey (Randy) Wickham-Vest and the late Toby Parker, fond great-uncle of Ayden Vest, Meredith, Joshua and Natalie Parker, chosen brother of Maureen Parker, dear cousin of many.
John’s vocation was Senior Tax Auditor for the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration. He served the public in this capacity for 32 years. But, his avocation was being a wonderful friend to more people than can be listed here. His loss will leave a great void in the lives of those who had the good fortune to know him, whether it be family, friends or colleagues. John was a movie buff; so it’s appropriate to paraphrase Harry Bailey from It’s a Wonderful Life regarding John’s wealth of friendships and say, “he was the richest man in town.”
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 20th, 11am-1pm at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St. (corner of Northwest Hwy/Rt14 and Rand Rd) Des Plaines.
