So Shocked and Deeply Saddened to see Johnny's obituary.  I met Johnny and his lovely mom Mary When I started working at Thompsons Bakery in 1981. There was just no one like him. His Smile and his Sweet 
 Personality has always been one of my Fondest Memories of working there. He was truly a Wonderful Person.  Sending most Sincere Condolences to his Family.

I was blessed to have known my friend John and his mom for 36 years! 
I started my very first job at Thompson’s Bakery in Norridge in 1982. Everyone who knew John, knew his mom Mary and was familiar with Thompson’s. I learned so much from both of them. 
John was one of the smartest, most generous, loving and caring guys I ever knew. He was a kind soul to everyone! 
The love John had for Tommy, Toby (RIP), and Kelsey was larger than life. He always talked about them or was going to see them. 
He loved Jim and Jeanne so much. He was the glue that kept everyone connected and together at all times as they all lived in different states.
John’s could have never done without his closest friends! They were such a huge part of his life. I loved hearing stories about their travels. He also always talked about his cousins and extended family, who were important to him. 
John loved his job and line of work. I think his longevity at one place is proof of that! It’s also proof of the devotion and commitment John had, he was a rare gem. 
I saved the BEST for last and that is John’s mom, Mary. She is my second mother and John was my brother from another mother. I can’t describe the depth of love they had for each other.  There was a special connection they shared and Mary meant the world to John. I love them both beyond words and I am deeply saddened by this loss of such an amazingly, beautiful friend inside and out. Rest In Peace John! 

My sincerest condolences to John's family and close group of friends.  I was fortunate to work with and know John for 30 years.  I'll very much miss his sense of humor, his book recommendations he provided me over the years and the funny way we always greeted each other in the office.  John touched so many here at CDTFA both professionally and personally, he was so generous with his time and knowledge of so many topics.   

It is so difficult to describe the loss we all feel with John being gone. I was so proud to call him my brother.  

John made every single person, feel that no matter what, he had all the time in the world for them, their lives, their stories.  An outstanding brother, uncle, son, friend…to all whose lives he touched.  Always a kind word, an ear to listen with, a shoulder to cry on. No one can ever replace or come close to the impact John left on those he loved.

When I had surgery in 2009, John was the first to volunteer and flew to Atlanta to help me recover.   He was there to help me exercise, cook for me, encourage me.  Sleeping on an air mattress on the floor every night.

John would give you his last dollar, the shirt off his back, his unconditional love.

John, It’s OK you never bought me beer or cigarettes growing up. You maintained your high principles and were a shining light to all you touched.  I found a poem which I think sums it up.

John was such a gentle soul.  He was smart, funny, and a joy to know.  We had wonderful lively discussions about things we had in common and were passionate about.  I always looked forward to seeing him when he came to Florida to visit his sister Jeanne.  His life was cut way too short and he will be greatly missed by many.  May he rest in peace, and his memory be a blessing.
