Joseph John Calabrese, 68 of St. Charles was born on July 4, 1954 in Evanston to the late Joseph P. and Rosaria (nee Lusco) Calabrese and passed away on February 17, 2023. He is preceded in death by his sister Sharon Calabrese. Joseph was the beloved father to Kim (Brandon) Newton and Courtney Calabrese (Josh Reed); proud papa to Frances Newton, Henry Newton, Violet Newton, Penny Pickle and Ranger (loving grandpups), Sylvester and Lila (loving grandkitties); dear brother to Mary Lynn (Bill) Johnston, Michael (Patti) Calabrese; a fond uncle to many nieces and nephews; and a gentle friend to everyone he met.
Aside from his family, Joe’s other true loves were the Chicago Cubs, bowling, fine writing instruments, classic martinis, and all things Christmas (notably exterior illumination). His days were spent maintaining the best lawn on the block and being the clapping monster. He will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2023 from 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St. Des Plaines, IL 60016. The funeral mass will be on Saturday, February 25, 2023 starting at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church, 794 Pearson St. Des Plaines, IL 60016. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Joseph’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Lurie Children’s Hospital.
