Michael S. Gargano

Michael S. Gargano passed away peacefully on January 5. Born in Chicago in 1929. Michael loved and cherished his wife, Jean of 72 years. He was the proud father of four. Michael served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a loyal friend to many.

Michael enjoyed many activities throughout his life, playing cards, boxing, football, baseball, tennis and most of all, he was an avid handball player.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Gargano.

Michael is survived by his children: Annette Gargano, Michelle (Fiore) Pennacchio, Michael Gargano and Frank (Kim) Gargano. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Frankie Kos, Tory Pennacchio, Angelo (Megan)Pennacchio, Nicolle (Adam) Deacon, Gino (Celina) Pennacchio, Karli (Patrick) McDonald, Jenna (David) Mercer, Jaimie (Ehl) Trusty and Frank (Alison) Gargano. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Zachary, Trafton, Jacob, Teagan, Rocco, Gianna, Olive, Aubrielle, Adrianna, Rory, Brogan, Grady, Lucille, Lillian, Jack, Lucia, Eleanor and Leo.

The family takes solace knowing that their father is now at peace together with their mother.

A visitation will be held at Oehler Funeral Home, located at 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL, on January 13, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a service to follow at 12:00pm.

The committal service will take place at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Rd, Hillside, IL, at 1:30pm.
