Dear Sally, Darren and Family,
My name is Jim McCarthy. I too was shocked and saddened to hear of Ron's passing. I was recently in touch with Ron when he found out that I had cancer. I had no idea that he too was engaged in a battle.

I cannot begin to tell you how much of an impact Ron had on my life. Thanks to John Meyers, Ron and I became a team in start up recruiting organization many years ago. Ron had all the talent and knowledge, I was his challenge!!! John tasked Ron with turning a very raw recruit into a polished IT recruiter-NO SMALL TASK!!
 
Ron got inside my head...he reached where I was, and got me to where I needed to be!
Ron taught me to "get tough"..."you're gonna hear 1000 no's, keep pushing until you get to "yes" !! You got a personality...USE IT!! Ron helped lay the foundation for all my future successes...

Thanks to Ron and John I have been in IT Consulting business for over 35 years. I have become a successful man and father.  I have reaped tremendous rewards and now I am focused on helping "young, raw recruits find there way in this business just like Ron did.

Upon reading John's entry, I was flooded by memories of Ron and I hanging out together. The memory that I am left with is-

Ron driving that huge Cadillac, with the top down, proud as a peacock on warm summer day, nodding as people looked at him and the car-

"Keep it on road Buddy!!" I will miss you-JIM

Along with Jack Meyers' condolences, I would like to add mine.  I met Ron through Jack a short 35 years ago and I too benefitted from his insights, humor and incredible wit.  I hope he's smiling back at us.

Dear Sally & Ron Oakes Family:

 I was shocked & saddened today,
 to learn of Ron's passing this last January.

 Ron was a friend & former Boss of mine whom I had worked with many years ago.

Ron utilized his infectious laugh and savvy sales approach to place innumerable IT Professionals from one new job to another, for generous search fees. 

Ron is best remembered by the way he always lit up a room with his signature baritone voice & larger than Life personality. I will always recall how he would bellow into the phone to his sales candidates: " This is RON OAKES calling, O-A-K-E-S, Like the Trees, I have you set up to meet   next week, Get Yourself ready to move, You're going to love this job !! " 

After the inevitable job acceptance by the candidate & gigantic placements FEES were billed, we could anticipate Ron thunderously banging his obscenely large, 18K Gold RLO pinky ring on the desk shouting : " That's a DEAL ! "
 
In a brutally unforgiving industry that saw 80% + 90% attrition, Ron consistently accomplished incredibly lucrative successes for decades, by sheer force of personality & drive. He did this to the admiration & envy of most everyone, right up to the retirement time of his choosing.
 
Through the years Ron, a self-made man, instructed & groomed many proteges, myself among them. Like many, I owe a great deal of the successes I achieved in business to his skills & training. For that and for being a loyal friend I am most grateful to Ron.

Ron will be fondly remembered by his friends for his tireless energy, passionate zest for life, genuine caring personality & always entertaining salty ribald humor.

La Petit Paradise welcomes you back home.

My uncle Ronnie was a really great guy who loved to enjoy life, music, food and the people he loved.  He was fun to be around.  Every time I think of him I hear the sound of him laughing and I hope that memory will never fade.  I will always be inspired by his ability to enjoy life and the bravery and faith he held throughout his illness.
