We sadly announce the passing of our mother, Ruth Boryca of Des Plaines, Illinois on January 2, 2023. Ruth passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and dog Charlie. Ruth was born on March 3,1931, to Anthony and Bernice Michalowicz in Chicago, and was one of seven brothers and sisters.
She married Robert (Bob) in 1955 and was the loving mother of Linda, Jerome, and Nancy. Ruth was an excellent mom; adventurous, supportive, kind, and light-hearted. She was a caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own and welcomed everyone into her life. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge with courage, open mindedness, and eternal optimism. Our mother was a source of inspiration to us all. Ruth will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched, and will be lovingly remembered by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, along with many friends and neighbors.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, brothers and sisters, her husband Bob, and daughter Linda. She is survived by her son Jerry (Tucker), daughter Nancy (Gene) Reed, grandson Sheldon (Talia) Reed, granddaughter Sharon Reed, and great-grandson Phoenix Reed.
A visitation for Ruth will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL 60016. On Monday, January 9, prayers will be said at 9:15 AM at the funeral home and then proceed to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 794 Pearson St., Des Plaines, IL 60016, for mass at 10:00 AM.
