

Born in Poland on October 1, 1920, Stella was a long time resident of Des Plaines. After her liberation from a German forced labor camp during World War II, Stella met, and later married, Witold Skorupski, who was an American soldier serving in the European campaign. She immigrated to the United States in 1946, where she wed Witold at Holy Trinity Church in Chicago, and started a family. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Ransom, Niles.
Stella was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time outside, whether gardening, or taking walks around the lake. Stella was eager to travel and experience new places, often accompanying her children on family vacations. She was strong, intelligent, funny, and had an adventurous spirit.
Stella was predeceased by her parents, Mary Achasz and Peter Mendrala; and her loving husband, Witold.
She leaves behind her children, Witold Jr. (Patricia), Robert, Wanda (James) Anton, and Christine (John) Abel, her grandchildren, Lisa (Mark) Damiano, Timothy (Romney) Skorupski, Erika (Patrick) Walton, Matthew (Amy) Skorupski, Lauren (David) Weldon, Lillian Anton, John Abel Jr., and Nicholas Abel, and great-grandchildren, Juliana, Charlotte, Giavanna, Bianca, and Matthew Jr. Skorupski, Gianna Abel, Jacob, Caleb, Calvin, and Willa Weldon, and Binx.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, June 7, from 3 - 8 p.m. at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, (corner of Northwest Hwy/Rt14 and Rand Rd) Des Plaines. Funeral prayers will be said Friday June 8, at 9:15 am at the funeral home, then going to Our Lady of Ransom Church, 8300 N Greenwood Ave Niles. Mass 10:00 am Interment Maryhill Cemetery.
