Edmond T. Going Jr. 91 of Dexter, MI completed his journey on Friday, February 26, 2016 at his home. Born in Detroit, MI to Edmond T. Going and Mabel A. Going (Landis). Preceding him in death his beloved wife, Janet Marie Going, his sister, Betty J. Steeb. Surviving are his nieces, Susan (Thomas) Spies and Carol (William) Nuber.
As a member of the Greatest Generation, Eddy served in the United States Army during WW II. Eddy was a member of the 236th Engineer Combat Battalion where he traveled the world to CBI, China, Burma and India where he helped build the Burma Rd. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 557.
Upon returning from war, Eddy met his beloved wife, Janet Marie Grossman of Manchester, MI. Eddy was a committed businessman who managed and owned his family business, Main Furniture on Jackson Rd. for over 20 years.
Eddy and Janet traveled the world extensively with friends, Iver and Ruth Schmidt. It was common knowledge to the residents of Dexter that Eddy rented you the “most affordable” apartments in the village. It was also common knowledge you could find Eddy having breakfast with the boys at the local diner every morning at 6:00 am to catch up on “what’s going on in the village”.
Eddy loved Dexter and its people and the idea that his home centrally located in the village of Dexter caught the views of many.
We would like to thank Arbor Hospice for their valiant efforts in keeping Eddy comfortable along with his caretakers, Frank Gucker, Sharon Young, Tim VanAken, Karl Schumacher and Debbie DeBrooke.
For all those who stopped by to say hello, bring their dogs for a pet, Eddy thanks you!
