

Marlene Kay Cunningham of Dexter, MI Age 78, passed away on February 9, 2015 after a brief illness. She was born Marlene Kay Degener on October 7, 1936. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred and daughter Joan. She is survived by her sons Mark (Inga Hofer) and David, her granddaughter Ashley Bowler, her extended family Sherry Peterson, Laura (Mic Durfee)Peterson, Kelly(Shawn)Cooke and her five great grandchildren, Aiden, Addison, Scott, Ava and Olivia. She is also survived by her brother Lynn (Mary Helen nee: Palmer) Degener and sister Carolyn Jenkins (nee: Degener) along with her brother and sister in law, Bob and Margaret Shultz (nee: Cunningham) and several nieces and nephews. Marlene was born in Jackson, MI and moved to the Dexter area where she met her husband, built a house and raised her family. She worked at Sweepster in Dexter for over 20 years. Marlene was a life long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dexter. Marlene will be remembered for her “can do” attitude and as someone who never said “I can’t”. Visitation will be held Friday, February 13th from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in the village of Dexter, 3430 Dover Street, Dexter, MI 48130.
