Michelle Lynne Haywood lost her courageous and long-fought battle with breast cancer on June 3rd, 2013. She passed away peacefully at Arbor Hospice, in the presence of all of her family. She was one of five beloved children of Nancy and Thomas Willis. She is survived by her loving family: Her husband Michael and his family--Parents Gary and Pauline, brother Brad (Cindy) and nephew Ryan. Her daughters Samantha and Emily, her sisters Wendy (Bill) Willis-Mayes and Sandra (Mike) Fradette, her brothers Thomas (Kim) and David, her nephews James, Blake, Damon, Nicholas, and her niece and ray of sunshine Kira. She is also survived by several loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Her beloved grandparents Thomas and Joyce Loy preceded her in death, her grandmother by only a few months. In the short time she was with us, she accomplished and experienced a great deal. She worked at the University of Michigan Hospital as a tech and a cook in the dorms. She was an avid softball player, and she ran track and cross country. She enjoyed watching her daughters play sports--soccer, volleyball, and baseball. As evidenced by her wardrobe, her favorite color was pink. She loved her two dogs, Oreo (Deceased) the Cocker Spaniel, and her rather large black Labrador Retriever, Jack. She frequently made and decorated cakes much to the delight of her family and friends. She loved watching classic and contemporary horror movies with her family and friends. She started the team Shelly's Cure for the Relay for Life events in Dexter. She also participated in as many events in honor of breast cancer as she was able. There will be a viewing for family and friends at Hosmer-Muehlig funeral home in Dexter, Michigan on Thursday, June 6th from 4 to 8 P.M. The funeral is on Friday, June 7th. A visitation will be held beforehand at 9 A.M. with the funeral following at 10 A.M. Interment will immediately follow the funeral, and will be at Arbocrest Memorial Park in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The family would like to express their gratitude toward the doctors and nurses at the University of Michigan hospital, and the fantastic and caring support staff provided by Arbor Hospice. We would also like to thank her friends who offered their time and resources when they were needed most. Please visit www.hosmermuehlig.com to leave he family your condolences.
