Tom was born on March 23, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Robert Eugene and Edna (Francis) Nicodemus. At the age of three, he moved with his family to Detroit when his father accepted a position with the Otis Elevator Company. He graduated from Henry Ford High School and went on to continue his education at Oakland University.
After a chance introduction to Bridget Bescoe, the two were married on June 12, 1980, in Florida. In 1986, they made their home in Dexter, where they raised their two sons and created a lifetime of memories. Tom enjoyed the simple pleasures of camping with his family, taking walks with Bridget, and riding his motorcycles, especially his Honda Gold Wing and Harley-Davidson Road King. He took great pride in maintaining his home and had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything. In earlier years, he enjoyed family vacations to Ludington, Michigan, Florida, and summer trips to Cedar Point.
Tom dedicated many years of service to the Otis Elevator Company, working as a mechanic responsible for elevators across the University of Michigan campus and throughout the Ann Arbor community. He served as the Local Representative for the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC); he retired in 2010.
Above all, Tom was a devoted family man. He will be missed by his wife, Bridget of Dexter; his sons, Jesse (Jennifer) Nicodemus of Belding; Kyle (Emma) Nicodemus of Bay City; and his granddaughters, Eleanor and Dorothy; his brother, Bill (Connie) Nicodemus of Kentucky; as well as his niece and nephew, Robert and Lisa.
