

Johnson, Arthur Wilton age 94, Mount Pleasant, Digby Co. passed away April 26, 2014 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Veterans Unit, Middleton. Born in Seabright, Halifax Co. he was a son of the late Walter and Jennie (Franklin) Johnson. Arthur was a veteran of the Second World War having served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders and was involved in the liberation of Holland. He was a carpenter by trade and made his career working in the Digby area. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are daughters, Sylvia (Earl) Luffman, Hacketts Cove, Halifax Co.; Sharon (Ronald) Daley, Culloden, Digby Co.; Krista Johnson, Toronto, Ont.; Rae (LeRoy) Lutz, South Waterville, Kings Co. ; sons, Cameron (Gladys) Bear River, Kelly (Wanda), Kingston, Kings Co.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Dollie, sisters, Sylvia and Maude; brothers, Clarence, Roy and George. Visitation will be Wednesday April 30th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm from Jaynes Funeral Home, 7 Birch St. Digby and from where funeral service will be held 2pm Thursday May 1st. Eric Morton and Eric Lockhart will officiate with burial in Union Cemetery, Culloden. Donations in memory can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of your choice.
