Charles Dennis O'Connell

Age 87 of Tideview Nursing Home, Digby, NS; originally from Plympton, Digby Co., NS. He passed away in Tideview Nursing Home, November 14th, 2013. Charles was born in Saulnierville on August 13th, 1926 to the late Dennis O’Connell & Rosalie Amero (Cottreau). He leaves to mourn his children, Gloria O’Connell (Paul Trider), Middle Sackville; Charles O’Connell Jr. (Betty McDormand), Eastern Passage; Wanda Surette (Gary), Cole Harbour; Kevin O’Connell (Janet), Alberta; several Cousins; also survived by 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; he was predeceased by his wife, Katherine Fiendell, on October 18th, 2013; son, Randy; daughter, Sandra Melanson; daughter-in-law Lillian O’Connell and great grandson, Ezra Trimper. His working career took him from fishing to carpentry. Charles was a super husband, dad, granddad and a friend to many (including residents/staff of Tideview Nursing Home). He was always there for all of us, large family gatherings, week-end camping adventures and many stories told. We will miss you dearly. We send our most sincere thanks to the staff of Tideview for the love and support shown to Charles and the family will never be forgotten. Thanks to faithful friends for never missing a visit on Sunday. Thank you to Dr. Lafkovici for attending to him over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tideview (Activity Department) or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with prayers at 8pm from Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch Street, Digby (245-2525). Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am, Monday, November 18th at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Queen Street, Digby, NS with Father Henry Smolenaars presiding with interment in the Holy Cross Parish Cemetery, Plympton, NS.
