Dear Family, 
I think of Donna with fondness. 
We shared our Nursing experiences as students of the VGH Class of 68 and there were many memorable occasions that we were together as we roomed in residence as neighbours and friends. 
Donna has been a person of grace, kindness and  compassion and throughout the years if our paths crossed, she always had lasting warmth and beauty in her smile. 
My deepest sympathy to you her family .

Sincere condolences to Donna's family. 

I did not have any contact with Donna since leaving school many years ago. We finally met just a few years ago. During a brief chat,  she told me I ruined Christmas for her. I suppose I looked a bit confused. That's when She explained, at a long ago Christmas concert in South Range, I told her: "That isn't Santa Claus, that's Henry".  

Cherish the good memories,

Donna was always to me what the “:perfect nurse” should be- -/supportive/
Professional/ competent/ caring/ warm and comforting.
She was a treasured member of the VG Class 68 and kept in touch at our five yearly reunions until her health failed.
Her memory will be carried and cherished by your nursing “ sisters” .

I was VG Class of 69. Donna & I worked permanent evenings in Coronary Care together & shared many good times, difficult times; but she never lost her soft, gentle love, smile and ability to care for others. She was an outstanding, compassionate nurse & mother .  The IWK was blessed to have her for 24 years!

I was so sorry to hear of Donna's passing.  We worked together at the IWK Shared Clinics for a number of years, and she simply was one of my favorite people.  In my mind I am laughing thinking about stories she told,  as she had a wonderful sense of humour.  She was just what a nurse should be, kind and patient with everyone.  I send my deepest condolences to her family.


Donna was the first classmate I met in September 1965,where we lived next door to each other in B wing at the VGH Nurses Residence.We laughed,cried, supported and were always there for each other.Our friendship got me through the many times I wanted to leave nursing.We have lost touch over the years but she will the best friend I ever had.Rest in peace my dear friend.

I am so saddened to learn of dear Donna’s passing. She was such a dear friend , co worker and  such a wonderful nurse. We had so many great times during our time at the IWK and so many memories are etched in my mind during our time there together. I knew she had moved back to Digby, losing touch but how excited she was with the shanty and  able to apply her wonderful skills of decorating. I cannot believe that she has left ….such a loss to so many.
Please accept my sincere condolences…my heart is broken. Your picture of her is as we knew and will remember her always.

The Victoria General Hospital Nursing Class of 1968 sends our sincere condolences to Donna`s family and friends .  During our three year training program Donna was always considered a friendly and gentle classmate who took her nursing profession very seriously.  She was a great support throughout our time in residence and a dedicated Registered Nurse throughout her career.  We remember her fondly and will miss her at our reunions .  Rest in Peace Donna.

I cherish all of the time spent with Donna, from our training days the the V.G., to time she and I spent at the shanty, as roommates at nursing reunions, and in later life, at our “couple’s” dinner parties, She had a great sense of humour, and we have lots of photos and videos as testimony of that! You all have happy and special memories of her, and they will help as you deal with this great loss in your lives. Rest In Peace, dear friend.

Oh, I was shocked to receive an email relaying the passing of dear Donna.
I worked with Donna at the IWK in Ambulatory Care for many years and we were enrolled in St.FX for our BScN degrees at the same time.
I can still see how happy she was when Michael had proposed and how she enjoyed the cottage near Crescent Beach. It just so happened that later we found out that Michael knew my husband's brother, the late Blair Lyons, from New Canada. Just goes to show what a small world we live in.
There are so many stories I could  tell but one always has been with me.
Donna was in a restaurant going up stairs and as if my route she held up the skit of her dress as if it were one that a lady wore in 1800's. She always said it was part of her history emerging.
She and Pat Kirk, who shared an office with Donna, were always ready to play a joke and enjoyed life.
Her boys were the loves of her life as were all her family members and her patients, whom she treated with respect, dignity and ensured they only received the very best care she and others could give them.
It only seems like yesterday, we were all happy and working at the IWK. I truly will miss the thought that she is still enjoying life in Digby where she grew up.
