Elaine Marie Deion, 72, of Weymouth North, passed away naturally on July 23rd, 2025 at 8:18pm with family by her side after a long battle with COPD. She is survived by her son Adam White (Neetu), grandchildren Milo and Kai, sisters Holly Trefy and Diane (Stewart) Thibault. Nieces and nephews, Kim Marryatt, Tracey Thibault, Craig and Kevin Trefry.
While living in Weymouth she worked for the Royal Bank and then at the Registry of Deeds for the provincial government. In her spare time she loved to knit, quilt, cross-stitch, crosswords, puzzles and online games.
Elaine was a determined personality surviving a full and partial hip replacement, heart attack and breast cancer. Always matter-of-fact, she kept her sense of humor and independent spirit until the very end, even requesting physio while in palliative care.
Her pride and joy were her two grandchildren. She loved talking about them, and more importantly, talking to them. On trips to Nova Scotia, they painted the rocks next to her babbling brook which brought her much joy.
She is predeceased by her mother, Edna Deion and brothers Richard and Michael Deion.
She was very thankful for those that provided help in her final years as her COPD progressed, whether it was food delivery, help around the house or just dropping by to say hi. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Digby General Hospital for their care and compassion during Elaine's final days. A special thank you is extended to Dr Mazeroll, Amanda, Roxanne, Logan, Katherine, Amy, Brandi and Bob the builder
A small family service will be held at a future date. Donations can be made in Elaine's memory to the Canadian Lung Association at lung.ca
