Harold’s career years were at CFB Cornwallis, it was from there that he retired when the base closed in 1994. Harold was strong, hardworking, and intelligent, he was exceptionally good at anything and everything and somehow he just knew how things should be done. Harold was affable and had the ability to talk to anyone, he especially enjoyed sharing his adventures and spending time with his friends, family and his best buddy Max (his beloved and faithful shih tzu.) He was a great cook for his family and enjoyed making Sunday morning pancakes, world class blueberry pies and the complete turkey dinner from the gravy to the cranberry sauce, from scratch. Harold liked gardening, fishing and hunting. He loved sharing his countless year round recreational adventures and also his vast knowledge of the local areas. His moose hunting trips were some of his most special memories. He specialized in cars, classic and modern. Harold also always enjoyed attending Bear River Cherry Carnival each summer.
A son and grandson’s mentor and a daughter’s hero, Harold was kind, good hearted, loyal, trustworthy and frequently looked after people’s properties and animals. He generously shared vegetables from his great gardens, supported local causes/benefits and was a blood donor on a regular basis.
Words are not enough to express our love, admiration and gratitude Dad (Gramp)…our guardian angel on Earth and from Heaven. We are so very proud of you and will always love and miss you.
Harold is survived by his son, Derek (Krista); daughter, Denise (Peter); grandson, Zachary; sister, Charlotte (Ralph); brothers, Walter (Marion), Robert, Philip (Suzanne); uncle, Fred (Lois); many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother, Agnes; father, Courtland and brother, Willard.
Special thanks to those who shared their time with Harold and to all who medically assisted him.
