

Ellis, Harry Roy – 84, of Bear River, passed away peacefully September 6th, 2012 in Annapolis Royal Health Centre. Harry was born in Bear River in 1928 to the late John and Alice (Martin) Ellis. Harry enjoyed hunting and fishing. Over the years Harry was; a member of the Bear River Board of Trade Waterfront Committee, an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #22, Bear River, Harry worked as woodsman for 4 years, served 2 years with the Army Reserve West Nova Scotia Regiment, was a License guide in the early 1950’s, worked 2 years as a land surveyor for NS Power Commission. Harry was a Firefighter, Fire Officer, Fire Chief with Airport Emergency Services for Transport Canada, Public Service for 33 years at various locations throughout Canada including NW Territories Retiring in 1984.
Harry is survived by sons, Gregory (Valerie Greene, Dartmouth; Richard Ellis, Bear River; grandsons, Kyle Ellis, Halifax; Neil Ellis, Bear River; sister, Mabel Marshall, Bear River; special friend, Rita Hearn, family friends, Cynthia Harris, Louise Wood as well as several nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by wife, Marylea Wambolt-Harris, son, Michael, two daughters in infancy, sister, Madeline Hunt, brothers, Ansel, Wally, William, Richard and Leander. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby (245-2525). Cremation has taken place, a graveside service for family and friends will be 2pm, Wednesday September 12th in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bear River. Pastor Simone Wilson presiding. The family would like to thank the staff at Annapolis Royal Health Centre; especially Dr. Gibson and palliative care nurses, Verna and Jackie. Donations in memory of Harry may be made to the Canadian cancer Society or to the Annapolis Valley Health Centre.
