It is with heavy hearts that the family of Harry Clifford Mullen, 95, of Easton, NS, announce his passing on August 25, 2025, at Digby General Hospital. Born in Easton, he was the son of the late Harold and Elsie Mullen.
Harry left school at 14 years old to join his father and brother working in the woods. He continued in that work for many years until he helped build a sawmill for Hillsdale Fur Farm, where he worked as a sawyer for 17 years until its closure in 1990. In retirement, he enjoyed building lawn furniture to sell and in the spring could be found making maple syrup in the sugar shack. He loved being in the woods. Harry was also a proud member of the Havelock Fire Department for over 34 years.
He will be remembered for his ability to build and fix anything, for the advice and wisdom he shared with his children and grandchildren, and most of all, for the great love he had for his family.
Harry is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Ruth; daughter Christine (the late Lonnie Lewis); sons Anson (Alicia) and Kendall (Nicole); sisters Stella Mullen (Easton) and Gladys Montgomery (Missouri); brother Ronald Mullen (Easton); grandchildren Jordan Mullen (Easton), Neil Mullen (Michelle Bayocot) (Yarmouth), Madison Mullen (Hassett), and Cameron Mullen (Olivia Hill) (Easton); as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; infant son; four brothers, Walter, Cecil, Edgar, and Robert; three sisters, Clara Thibideau, Dorothy Sabean, and Ruth Mullen; and his son-in-law, Lonnie Lewis.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, from 6–8 p.m. at Havelock Wesleyan Church. A celebration of Harry’s life will take place on Friday, August 29, at 2 p.m. also at Havelock Wesleyan Church with Pastor Shawn Craven officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery Extension, Hilltown, NS.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
