Helen (Melanson) Smith

Helen Rosalie 94, Lakeside Nursing Home, Gander, Newfoundland.

Formerly of Scarborough, Ontario and born in Plympton, Nova Scotia.

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother Helen Rosalie on March 25th, 2025. Predeceased by her parents, Joseph I Melanson, Bessie Marie (Thibodeau), brother Earl, husband Albert, son Murray, daughter Julieanne, granddaughter Tina, great granddaughter Ashley.

Will be sadly missed by her children Joseph (Elaine) John (Sue), Edward (Betty), Michael (Abella), Larry, son in law Glenn Cook and daughter in law Barbara Smith.

Cherished Nanny of 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

Memories of Mom’s life was her love of music, dancing, her family, her salt and pepper collection and all the friends she made along her lifelong journey. We love and thank you til we meet again, always in our hearts.

Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Lakeside Nursing Home.

Cremation has taken place and Celebration of Life will be held in Plympton, Nova Scotia at a later date.
