

DURHAM, Jean Lillian age 88 of Tideview Terrace, Digby passed away peacefully on December 25, 2014 in the Digby General Hospital. Born in St. Catherine’s Ont. she was the adopted daughter of the late Charles and Melissa Durham. She was employed for 35 years as a nurse at the General Hospital in Hamilton. After retirement, she moved to Nova Scotia. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Digby and was an organist for various churches. She was a member of the TLC animal shelter and worked hard to ensure the well being of the animals as well as an active member of the Hospice Society. She was presented with an award for Exceptional Volunteer Service for Nova Scotia in 2003 by Premier John Hamm. She was loved by her many friends and acquaintances. She is survived by her adopted family June (Melanson) Turcot and Andre’ Turcot, Brighton, Digby Co.; and their children Joseph (Rosa) and grandchildren Kristen and Dylan Melanson of Gilberts Cove. Visitation will be from 7-9pm Monday, December 29, from Jayne’s Funeral Home 7 Birch St. Digby. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 30 at 11 am from St. Patricks Roman Catholic Church, Digby. Father Henry Smolenaars will officiate. The burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Plympton. Donations in memory can be made to the TLC Animal Shelter.
