(Mike) Francis Michael Wells, age 60, died suddenly on Friday, July 23, 2021 at his home in Digby, Nova Scotia. A gregarious and generous man, he is remembered by his wife Lynda Giles, step-sons Casey, Matthew, Jonathan, and Kristopher, and grandchildren Skylar and Sloane. Mike is survived by his sister Charlene, brother Ernest, and found-family Wendy, Dan, Steve, Barry, and Michael Gould. He is preceded by his brothers Bruce, David, and Ken (Gould).

A stranger to no one for long, Mike had the uncanny ability to make fast friends out of new acquaintances. His love of the outdoors, camping, fishing, boating, and travelling took him on his motorcycle across Canada and back. He called multiple provinces his home, and eventually settled in Nova Scotia with his wife of 19 years, Lynda, and their beagle, Banjo. He worked for more than thirty years with Honda, Canada in Alliston, Ontario, followed by a short stint with Gidney’s Fisheries Ltd., and finally with Dan Bonnell Trucking in Nova Scotia where he was recognized by customers across the Digby Neck by his beagle mask. His sense of humour was characterized by his sharp wit and love of terrible, terrible puns. He was a defender of the underdog and the goalie’s net, and the sort of man who showed up at your door, Timmies for two in hand. He will be remembered for his cooking, boyish smile, and reliable strength, but above all his boundless kindness.

“Bye for now,” Mike.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. Donations in Mike’s memory can be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation. The family would like to thank Cindy O’Donnell, Terry VanTassel, EHS, RCMP Officer Constable Pottie, Kelly Harding, Janice Schmit, Cairine Robertson, friends, and family for their compassion. Visitation will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday July 30th, the Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm at Jayne's Funeral Home, Digby (times are Atlantic Standard). Rev. Donald Robertson officiating. “Willy T” Mike would say with a smile. I had the pleasure of knowing Mike early on working at Honda and we always had some laughs to share about hockey and life. He was always such a great guy to talk to. My sincere condolences as I know he will be missed

I have known Mike since he was in grade school , he was such a great
Guy always happy and laughing, generous and genuine. He was always willing to help anyone and everyone. He put everyone ahead of himself,
My family loved him so much ,and we will miss him forever.
I try to think that he is now with my son Ken and Pops as Mike called him,
My husband Garnet. He and Ken will be on their motorcycles having a great time together. Laughing and telling jokes as usual. Love and peace

He was always laughing at us. my sister Chrissie and I. Being 7 years his junior, trying to be 'cool' it didn't take long for us to stick out like a sore thumb... being young and not from the country. When we came up to the farm or saw them anywhere... we would run up to him like he was a famous person, screaming his name and Ernie's clear across a ball field. I am sure we embarrassed him. Now older... driving from the house... in Dad's car.... black ice, who would have thought not to hit the breaks... now sideways in the ditch...both of us in heels and dresses. he pulled us out and never told dad... He is definately is a keeper.. always in our hearts.. Rest in peace Mike..

Mike was always a part of the family - a youngster playing hockey, MC at our wedding, best man for Ken’s wedding and Mike and Lynda attended our son, Adam’s wedding - and so many other events in between. He was just always there! He was the life of the party with his quick wit and not afraid to show his dance moves!! He made friends so quickly - he was such a great guy! He will be so missed but always in our hearts. Love Dan and Laurie

My heartfelt condolence to Lynda, family and friends. Although I've only known Mike for a short time, our conversations have left a lasting impact on me. He was friendly, kind and always gave people a chance to put their best foot forward. His presence and energy will be sorely missed.

Hi Lynda .. just want to offer my heart felt condolences to you personally on hearing of Mike’s passing. I first met Mike at Honda in 1992 and we worked in the same zone for 4 or 5 years before I transferred to different zone …on the engine dress up line as a group , most of us all became good friends and Mike was always the one with the best one liners and could brighten some dark days with his wit and humour . He rarely complained and always would gladly jump in to help a fellow team member with a problem .. we kinda lost touch over the last 20 years but would occasionally run into one another and joke with one another or he would ask about if I’d seen or run into so and so . I could go on and on , but I’m sure you know the narrative by now .. …there are few people that come into your life over your lifetime that become the kind of friend/ person that leave a impression that always stays with you .. I know in my heart he will always be looking over you and your family because he wouldn’t have it any other way … RIP Wellsey .. god bless and prayers to you Lynda and family at this difficult time … Bill Thompson
