Muriel Bennett Kempton was born on September 3, 1925 in Canning Nova Scotia to father Charles Bennett, mother unknown. She was raised by the Mitchell family, local Minister`s wife. She joined the WAC in World War II after school and served in Yarmouth where she met her husband to be, Victor Kempton and they were married in the army. They lived in various places in Nova Scotia including Halifax where their first child Frank was born in 1947, moved back to Yarmouth where their daughter, Sandra was born in 1949 and Patricia in 1951 eventually to Smith`s Cove where they settled permanently where James was born in 1959.
Muriel was a loving and committed mother and raised her family in Smith`s Cove. She is survived by daughter, Sandra (Boisjoli) from Abbotsford, B.C.; son, James Kempton, Port Coquitlam, B.C. She is also survived by granddaughters, Jillian, Jessica, Amy and Morgan (all from B.C.), Shelly and Kimberley from Ontario and Carrie from Nova Scotia; great-grandsons, Zackary, Evan and Chase all living in B.C.
She was predeceased by her husband, Victor Kempton; son, Frank and daughter, Patricia.
After Muriel was widowed in 1982 she spent many vacations in B.C. and Ontario visiting her children and grandchildren including Expo 86 and enjoying several camping trips and having fun times with family. Muriel was a true Nova Scotian and although we tried several times to get her to move to B.C., she could and would not leave the place that she loved the most. She will be incredibly missed by Jim and Sandra and all the grandchildren who loved and love her so.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11 am, on Friday November 9 at Jayne's Funeral Home, 7 Birch Street, Digby, NS (902-245-2525). Rev Mark Cress will preside.
