

Warner, Richard Vincent Sr. – 81, Digby passed away July 4, 2010 in Digby General Hospital. Born in Acacia Valley, Digby Co. Richard was a son of the late Roy and Margaret (Vincent) Warner. Richard loved to bowl, and enjoyed being on teams for 45 years. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially later with his sons and grandsons. Richard loved family gatherings and barbeques, and especially Christmas dinner. He was a member of Digby United Baptist Church for over 65 years. Richard was a past Master of King Solomon Lodge # 54 Digby, of which he was a Master five different years. He was a past Patron of Order of the Eastern Star, St. Mary’s Chapter # 35; past Grand Lodge Officer of the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia; past member of Mount Zion Preceptory No. 73, Eureka Chapter No. 5, Philea Temple of Halifax (Shriner); original member of the Digby East Fish & Game Association, past member of Digby Yacht Club, and lifetime member of the Liberal Association of Nova Scotia and Canada. Richard worked for Irving Oil home delivery; Eastern Bakeries Ltd. as a bread salesman and supervisor for 20 years; and Conway Cooperative Society as manager for 19 years. Richard married his wife, Vesta (Thurber) on August 21, 1950 and was looking forward to their 60th anniversary. Besides his wife, Richard is survived by daughters Bonnie (Rick Surette) Baker, and Joanne Comeau both of Digby; sons Richard Jr. (Susan) of Kemptville, Douglas, Baxters Harbour; James, South Range; sister Marion (John) Bouchard, Red Deer, Alberta; and brother Leroy (Marie), Bloomfield; grandchildren Christopher Baker, Robert Warner, Julie Warner, Colin Frost, Caleb Warner, Ashlin Warner, Eric Warner, and great grandson Hunter Warner. He was predeceased by infant daughter, Margaret Belle and brother, Victor. No visitation by request. Family flowers only. Masonic Funeral service will be 10:30 am Thursday at the Digby United Baptist Church followed by an Order of Eastern Star service and from where the Funeral service will be held 3pm, Rev. John Dickinson presiding. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Digby. Donations in Richard’s memory may be made to the Digby United Baptist Church.
