October 7, 1953 – March 19, 2025, Age 71
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bobby" "Papa" Joseph Robicheau, age 71, on March 19, 2025. Bobby, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Life Full of Love and Family
Bobby was born on October 7, 1953, and grew up in Doucetteville. He and his loving wife Marilyn built their first home there in 1976 and stayed there until 1996 when they made the move to Weymouth. In 2019 they made a final move to Digby, where they lived surrounded by family and friends. He and Marilyn shared a life filled with love and cherished memories. A devoted family man, Bobby’s greatest joy in life was his family. As a father, Bobby was proud of his daughters, Jill (Arnold) and Deanna (Robert), and his son, Jamie (Nicole). He poured his heart into being the best Papa to his grandchildren, Brandi, Alex A, Patrick, Alyssa, Alex B, Aiden, Emma, Eli, and Zachary, and was also thrilled to be a great-grandfather to Adelynn and Hazel, and Zayne.
Bobby loved to create memories with his family and friends. He enjoyed many trips and get-togethers with Marilyn and friends, as well as relaxing buggy rides. He also treasured spending time at "Auntie’s Lake," where the whole family came together to enjoy each other’s company and the beauty of nature. Bobby also enjoyed playing games, especially cards—but not "Catan."
A Dedicated Worker and Friend
Bobby’s career took him to many places, where he met countless people throughout his life. He worked at Wilson’s Home Hardware, where his friendly nature and work ethic made him a beloved figure in the community. Later, he worked as a car salesman at Weymouth Motors, with one of his oldest friends, Eddy, where he formed many lasting relationships with customers and colleagues. In his pre-retirement years, Bobby worked with daughter, Jill, and son-in-law, Arnold, on their farm, staying active and involved with his family. After retirement, Bobby continued to keep busy helping family and friends, especially his daughter Deanna and son-in-law Robert at their restaurant. Bobby had a remarkable gift for remembering faces, if not always names, and his warm smile and welcoming presence left a lasting impression on all those he met.
Passion for Hockey and the Toronto Maple Leafs
In his younger years, Bobby often played softball and played hockey intramurally for the Tower Knights when he attended Acadia University. He was also a proud member of the Clare Frenchies team, the St. Bernard 7-Ups and the Digby Scallop Kings, where he enjoyed the sport and formed lasting bonds with his teammates. His love for hockey and the camaraderie it brought him continued to be a defining part of his life.
A passionate Toronto Maple Leafs fan, Bobby’s love for the team was undeniable. He greatly enjoyed watching games with his son, Jamie and daughter Deanna, and his enthusiasm for the team was infectious to all who shared in his excitement. One of his proudest moments came in 2002, when he was able to attend a Toronto Maple Leafs game at the Air Canada Centre with his wife, Marilyn—a memory he treasured deeply. His family will continue to cheer on the Leafs to win the Stanley Cup in his honour.
A Man of Many Talents and a Heart of Gold
Bobby was known in his community for his generosity, his willingness to lend a hand, and his unique habit of collecting littered bottles to help keep his neighbourhood clean. He was also a skilled handyman, able to fix almost anything, and often shared his talents with friends and family, offering assistance whenever needed. As his grandkids would always say, "If Papa can't fix it, nobody can!" His caring and kind nature left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.
Cherished and Remembered
Bobby was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Helen Robicheau; his brother, Donnie; his sister, Joan; his beloved granddaughter, Mallory; his niece, Cheryl; his brothers-in-law, Murray, George, and Martin; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Guy and Lorraine, along with many good friends. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Jill (Arnold) and Deanna (Robert); son, Jamie (Nicole); his grandchildren, Brandi, Big Alex, Patrick, Alyssa, Little Alex, Aiden, Emma, Eli, and Zachary; his great-granddaughters, Adelynn and Hazel, as well as his great grandson Zayne; his sister, Louise (Norman); brothers, Lloyd (Wendy) and Ricky (Wendy); his brothers-in-law, Larry (Marilyn), Syd; and sisters-in-law, Phyllis, Shirley, and Lynda. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless good friends.
