Ronald Gregory Smith

Smith, Ronald Gregory age 63, of Digby , passed away June 13, 2016 at home. Born in Bridgewater on August 21, 1952, he was a son of the late Glendon and Lorraine (Martin) Smith. Ronnie was employed with the Dept. of Fisheries and Oceans for 35 years. He also served on several boards and agencies after retiring in Digby. Ronnie was a 30 year associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 20 Digby, and a 3rd degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Digby. Ronnie loved the outdoors and more than anything else his four daughters and six grandchildren. Surviving are daughters Laura (Kris) Tillack, Leduc Alberta, Aimee (Tom) Neaverson, Peterborough England; Emily Smith St. Andrews New Brunswick ;Sarah (Jordan Mason) Smith, Burnaby British Columbia, special friend Geraldine Amirault, Digby NS, sisters Gail (Jim ) Webster, Boynton Beach, Fl. Karen (Rusty) Livermore, Lumberton, NC. ; Maureen (John) Nolasco, Wasaga Beach, Ont.; sister Deidre (Gordon) Wilson, Digby; Bunny Smith, Antigonish; brothers Robert (Carol) Smith, Cherry Hill, Lunenburg; grandchildren Kailey Tillack, Savannah Tillack, Kori Smith, Kade Halliday, Jalen Mason, Brooke Neaverson, 21 nieces and nephews, 25 great nieces and nephews and 4 great great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Glen “Skipper” Smith. Visitation will be 7-9 pm Friday from Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St. Digby. Funeral service will be held 11am Saturday from St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Digby. Father Albenie d’Entremont will officiate with burial in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth.
