Shirley Nordin Specht

SPECHT, Shirley Gertrude – Age 79 of Barton, Digby Co. passed away February 4th, 2014 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born and raised in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Axle and Nora (Davis) Nordin. She worked at Moirs Chocolates and Halifax Club. After marrying Donald they moved to Digby where Shirley devoted her time raising her children and foster children. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. She enjoyed her doll collection and was a member of St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, Marshalltown. Shirley was well loved and will be deeply missed by husband, Donald Specht; daughters, Debbie (Fred) Horner; Treena (Lester) Porter, sons, David (Cathy) Specht, Joey Specht; foster children, Roxy Henshaw, Bruce Henshaw, Tammy Bouchiea and Tommy Nordin; grandchildren, Donna Wright, Justin Horner, Joshua Horner, Tamara Horner, Christa Specht, Heather Specht, Trisha Specht, Andrew Specht, Crystal Rodgerson, Justin Rodgerson; great-grandchildren, Tyler Wright, Taylor Wright, Tristin Wright, Aaliyiah Horner, Leighton Horner, Lyndi Horner, Kayla Specht, Liberty Rodgerson, Landon Rodgerson, Wyatt Rodgerson, Ella Rodgerson also numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by sisters, Marie Stewart, Dorothy Sampson, Rita Moran; brothers, Charlie Nordin, Harold Nordin and Ernie Nordin. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Service will be 10am, Saturday February 8th, from Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St., Digby (245-2525). Father Henry Smolenaars will preside with Interment in Barton Cemetery.
